So glad Ethan spotlighted you and I am excited to watch you grow, but with peace and love, Ethan was totally right, you're playing it way too safe. I think the idea of talking to influencers about how they manage their business ventures is really interesting but you have to be willing to get into the nitty gritty details. For example Jason mentions Colleen Ballinger, I would LOVE to know how controversies like hers affect his ability to leverage his connections at places like paramount and if doing business in a space as stigmatized as youtube impacts his other business/career opportunities. He also talks about how he refuses to engage with drama but he can't possibly think he exists in a vacuum. Ethan, Trisha, and Jeff have all pointed out seriously problematic behaviors of Jason and David but yet they continue to have some level of success - does he think Colleen can make it out of this the same way he and David did? If not why? Does he think he and David were impacted by the controversy? Does he think controversy in the influencer space plays out the same as it does for a more traditional business? Does he have any more traditional celebrities or business men/women that he tries to emmulate when dealing with the more precarious times in his career like when Trisha lashes out at him or when Vine shut down? You don't necessarily need to be confrontational about it (you don't have to call him out on his alleged problematic behavior), I'm sure there are more sensitve ways to bring up these topics, but if we're talking about this weird space they opperate in I want to hear them talk about the niche shit. Talking about these kinds of things also lends itself to more interesting titles and thus more views. Excited to see what you do with your next few interviews, papa bless

I really like this advice too! When Ethan said to go goblin mode, I was like NOOOOOO. Does not seem like Tom's brand and would probably alienate future guests. BUT being braver and more frank with questions and how the personal dramas do and don't impact success or how they relate and intertwine with business is rather interesting! Like even in my job, personal or interpersonal dramas can affect my work in lots of ways but yet I always have to find a way through them and learn from them and move forward after, but it's not easy and rather hard at times. Finding those moments or connection points for guests to actually get more raw and vulnerable is really great for humanizing them and gaining more respect. People want to see past the veneer and persona that these people commonly wear as armor of sorts. It's what I love about Ethan at least, he's probably the most genuine/real youtube personality there is because he is so open and honest, emotional at times, but also messy and flawed, like all of us.

Hey Tom, I wanted to offer some unsolicited advice from the perspective of an average viewer. It might be worth considering embracing this direction. H3 has employed similar channel promotion strategies multiple times, and channels that embrace such approaches often achieve significant success. Hello! From h3h3 podcast. I am 20 minutes into your video here and have scrolled a few dozen shorts. One thing I want to say as someone who manages social media for a creator... The algorithm is HUNGRY. It loves buzz words. You have already done the hard part, creating content. I won't say this is the key to instant success, but you need to use more buzz words in your titles and thumbnails. Titles and thumbnail are absolutely EVERYTHING. So many people underestimate this. You can literally have the most absolutely irrelevant video, but if your title and thumbnail are solid your video is so much more likely to be seen. It's all about giving the algorithm what it wants. When you post, the algorithm tries to figure out what it's looking at. If it deems that its a hot topic, it will get dished out and recommended along with all the rest. If it deems that it is its' own topic, you're basically shooting yourself in the foot cause then it thinks it has to build up an audience for your video. Which in 2023, is extremely hard unless you're doing something absolutely unique like jidion, bobbi, or something controversial. You have so much potential! my last piece of advice, don't be afraid to make your KZbin shorts a bit longer. More fast paced, to the point, etc. Currently they are lacking quite a bit and i mean that in a constructive way. I hope this all gets taken as constructive criticism! I wouldn't be taking the time to write this if i didn't think this channel had tons of potential.

Keep up the good work! Some advice to help get your video in the algorithm is to change the thumbnail. Make it simple by having just you and the guest in the thumbnail and your podcast’s name below or above. You can make it more vibrant by changing the colours to bolder colours or raising the contrast. This will make the video look more dramatic and appeal more people to click on it. Hope this helps, peace and love!

Agreed. The idea of a celebrity having an intimate conversation is appealing to people (hence the popularity of the podcast medium). by just having a stock press photo of the guest in the thumbnail with some buzzwords floating around their head, Tom is making the video look like throwaway corporate trash. I'd recommend a thumbnail that includes both him AND the guest, facing each other, in candid poses of engaged conversation

With peace and love I have a suggestion Tom. How about talking to entrepreneurs and influencers about failing? Have them on to talk about a business were they completely failed, talk about their mistakes, what they learned from those mistakes and how they used this lesson to be successful in their next venture. As someone who failed and who is now afraid of trying again because I am scared shitless of failure, hearing people I respect talk about failing would be so inspiring.

So.. lets cut to the chase.. the plan for the Dobrik interview is simple. Step 1: Begin the interview casually.. or "vanilla" if you will.. Step 2: Ask basic questions. Make sure David is good and comfortable. Business as usual. Step 3: 30 minutes into the interview.. there is a knock at the door interrupting the podcast. Step 4: Act surprised. This is an unplanned and unexpected visitor. Step 5: Answer the door. Step 6: Invite the new guest in. Step 7: Introduce David Dobrik to Jeff Wittek. Step 8: Views. (See what I did there?)

And if you’re spending so much money already, you should get a marketing person/social media person if you’re unable to pick up on the social media trends yourself. You seems like a charasmatic person!! Show your personality in the interview! Ask sligthly controversial questions or out of the box questions!!
