I was in high school when Kath died and for a long time it wasnt the band I loved as a kid. But now I cherish every time I can see them. Even though no Bill. No Danny. Or Jason. It doesn't matter. What's important is someone is keeping the music alive whether it's this lineage or the wonderful musicians of Leonid & Friends. Every artist that has helped along the way deserves our respect. Enjoy the music while you still can. Sure, its not exactly the lineup you might want but this is true of the last 40yrs but its live performances of songs you love.

well, gotta say their voices have improved since they joined the band, Scheff really made me ill during the tours in the 90's n 2k's. but then, Champlin blew chunks in vocals...Terry's guitar will never be topped, and Cetera's tenor was the perfect foil for the voices of Lamb and Kath. Eh, it is what it is. The actual band should hang it up now, with only 3 participating originals left.

You must have been smokin crack. Jason Scheff showed up at a backstage at The Greek for a meet and greet in LA, along with other LA celeb types, if anything it was somewhat awkward in that he explained who he was, but there weren't any vibes that he was hitting on Arnel. Jason Scheff is married with kids, if he's guilty of anything he's guilty of bad hair and styling for his age and weight.

Jason has a good voice when he doesn't try to go beyond his obvious vocal range. If you listen to Chicago's first album with Jason, Chicago 18, and then 19, his voice was good. Unfortunately, it was David Foster who encouraged him to sing and sound more like Peter. Problem was Jason just never had the vocal range like Peter. Jason's voice at times sounded forced, and he had to cut notes short as he couldn't hold them long like Peter. I always wondered why on the song, 'Call on Me', they would always cut it one line short. Rarely would they have Jason sing the entire song. He just didn't have the singing chops like Peter. Had David Foster just left him alone, and let him sing within his vocal talent and range, I think Jason would have been a lot better and happier. It was bad enough the enormous shoes he was having to fill. But, to be a 2nd Peter, was just not reasonable to ask of anyone coming into that position.

Thats not why Jason left Chicago. It had much to do with caring for an ill family member. But I believe Scheff and Coffey got worn down by Chicago's NON STOP touring just like Cetera did and that I'm sure had played a major part in Scheff and Coffey (who actually said so) leaving the band. 5:33

@@derhandtrommlerFans (of these guys) most likely want to hear them sing the songs from the bands catalog. Plus being outside of Chicago (the band) there's far less pressure on Scheff and Coffey to "sing like Cetera " who himself said that "I always thought 25 or 6 to 4 was always too high to sing" that's why even Cetera lowered keys later as a solo performer. Bill Champlin recently said Jason sings better now than he did in Chicago. Lots of pressure obviously just being in that band.
