was serving time as a marine on a naval ship, a during morning walk down of the deck they played this song over the loudspeakers. not a soul on that flight deck was silent, everyone knew the words and sang along. it was one of my best memories of my time in the service. we were from cities and fly over states, big and small towns, but we were all Americans. white, black, red, yellow, brown, color had no standing in our lives. we were all just people remembering home. it was truly a powerful moment.

Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk all suited up, on a flight from Cape Canaveral to the moon, kind of making small talk, killing time, joking with mission control, 600 miles above, could be Mongolia. Just a bunch of forests and rice farms, it all looks the same, miles and miles of horse trails connected foreign towns, who'd want to live down there, in the middle of nowhere.

"Give me wide open spaces," what my Grandpa from out west used to say from his heart. He was an Okie, married a girl from Harper and put himself through vet school in Ames, moved west, and turned Idaho desert ground on the Snake River into a ranch, and loved this land more than most. Thank you for who you were, and RIP, Lavern. He and Grandma also gave a home to over 50 foster children over the years, adopted a child, and had 11 themselves and loved people as much as the land.

This may come across as silly, but it really is the truth from my stand point. I'm a west coaster and I live here in Oregon. This song tears me up from time to time. Why? Because I go to the local supermarket and just grab produce and other items without thought of the people that are from these states and I take it all for granted. Truth is, without these hard working, quiet, and humble people, the country wouldn't have the food we have that makes this great country run. I tear up because I'm embarrassed at myself. These hard working people deserve to be paid well for their hard work and deserve to be recognized and not just forgotten.

Good friends of mine are farmers, whole family, here in Indiana. They do bust their butts and do everything they can to make it every month. The community appreciates and looks forward to their farm market every summer being open. Nothing like fresh produce picked that day. I will thank you for them! There is also nothing like driving down the road with soy bean crops to one side and yummy corn growing on the other side :).

Same I'm from Indiana too although I was raised in a college town but I saw a lot of that driving through the state.

I don't know how it's even possible, but country music can make me kinda nostalgic for a world I've never been and never seen. It calms down and gives a feeling of infinity of time as if our life is not so short at all. It gives me meaning and desire to keep living through this difficult time

not enough people appreciate what farmers do for this country. they work there ass off for even rich people and get shown little respect. live without farmers and then tell me how life is.
