Hello Mr. Brandon, so far so good on sharpening the wahl adjustable blades. The only troublesome blades are the wahl non adjustable balding with a comb that has very small teeth. Kindly advise me on the pressure to apply and the finishing part on the plate? Your techniques really work. Thank you.
@TheEdgePro
@TheEdgePro 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! The techniques should be the same as the adjustable. One thing to take into consideration with a balding blade specifically and other very small fine edged combs is that the tips can get sharp, which will drag against the hair. These need to be softened after sharpening. We typically use either a piece of fine abrasive on the table or a flat hone.

When you de-burr with a wire brush, Do you just drag on the burr side, or both sides? If one side only, should you recheck, sharpen a bit again? If both sides, can it dull the sharp edge a bit?

Hey! Great vid! Any tips on sharpening or when newly sharpened blades that dry out quickly? I have to continually add oil after 2-3 mins of use. Thanks!
@TheEdgePro
@TheEdgePro 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Harlem! It sounds like the blade needs to be cleaned out! Oftentimes the gunk in the blade can just become more sticky when you add more oil and create more of an issue than solve anything. Try cleaning the blade with Andis Cool Care or rubbing alcohol and then oil. That should last you longer!

Hello edge pro. do you have a video illustration for rounding sharp tip blades after sharpening
@TheEdgePro
@TheEdgePro 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Megarider. I do not believe we have a video illustrating this but we simply rock the tips back and forth on a 600 grit or 30 micron (very fine) sandpaper.
@FullDottle
@FullDottle 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheEdgePro Can you elaborate? Are you saying you "ramp" the blades? Also, can you use a fine DMT plate? Also also, is this rocking done on both comb blade and cutter?

For the arco blades, using a DMT diamond plate to knock the burr back instead of kissing the plate, would you recommend the red (600 grit)?
@TheEdgePro
@TheEdgePro 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott! Yes the 600 is fine. You don't want to put extra pressure from the weight of the hand. Its job is to help break the burr, not remove metal from the surface that we just created.

Why not just use a wet stone since there is very little play on the metal removal on trimmer blades?
@TheEdgePro
@TheEdgePro 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason! The biggest issue with using a flat surface to create two matching flat surfaces is the material doesn't remove evenly and typically comes off faster on the edges than the core, which will make the two mismatch. The specialty wheels that we use are designed to create a hollow grind to create proper seating for the two pieces of the blade.

What video shows burr removal
@TheEdgePro
@TheEdgePro 2 жыл бұрын
Burr removal is not something we concentrate on due to most domestically made commercial blades having a high quality alloy and rockwell hardness allowing the burr to flake off as we sharpen. this makes unnecessary to spend extra effort deburring. However, there are certain blades that we do inspect for burrs, one of which is the Wahl 5 in 1 cutter and Lister and Premier cutters. You can watch the video about sharpening the 5 in 1 blades that show some techniques on deburring. Most deburring has to do with metal fatigue flipping the burr back and forth until it falls away. This can be done with a wire or nylon brush.
