Hey everyone! I hope you enjoy this Part One video of my recent trip to Noganosh Lake Provincial Park. I also want to send a big thank you to Derek for coming out with me and doing so much of the heavy lifting while I've been nursing an injured shoulder and also for continuing to help me learn how to fish these great waters. Couldn't have done the trip without you buddy.

Hi Jason, I really enjoy all your video. It's great to see the wilderness through your trip. I never did a trip with portage but it's on my bucket list. I am a painter and I would like to know if I could use image of your video for inspiration of further paintings. Anyway, thank you for posting! 🌞

Did you forget a rain coat or something?! Lol Beautiful there. I was in a few weeks before you, stayed at the island shortly after the narrows into Noganosh. Had some great fishing, both bass and some monster pike. Thanks for taking the time to film and share with us.

Lol. Actually I always pack rain gear but hate wearing it. So on warm summer days prefer to just get wet and then change into dry clothes later. I think we had lunch at your site in the next video. Great fishing.
@paddlehooked46874 жыл бұрын
Jason Eke I hear ya about the rain gear. I can’t stand it either and typically just end up in my swimming shorts enjoying the shower. Unless it’s cold out of course.

@TrailguidePictures4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. This is my "Ugly Canoe" built from scrap wood. You can find the build video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYuniZudmaeXjdk Yes, I added a pair of kevlar skid plates to the ends because I know the landscape of the lakes in the area and the inevitable wear from rocks. Good old Canadian Shield.

Jason Eke I’ve watched that video at least half a dozen times. Are you willing to provide dimensions so that can loft it myself?

Great video. I know the area well. We have friends on the Pickerel River. My dad is a member of one of the hunt camps in that area. It’s quiet a little more than usual because a lot of cottage owners are from the states. Beautiful scenery. Did you see much wildlife ? I like your life jacket and your canoe is awesome.
@TrailguidePictures4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Yes, we saw our share of wildlife (most of which is in the next couple videos). I love my vest too. It's a Salus Marine Kayak Angler. Love the front pocket and it fits comfy.

Great video Jason, such beautiful scenery! A quick question for you: do you need a parking permit to leave your car at Ess Narrows overnight? Also, we too enjoy these little Nestle coffee packs - no more suffering with cowboy coffee! I am shocked to hear about the mice - could it be from the fishing camps?? Can't wait to see Part 2!
@TrailguidePictures4 жыл бұрын
Hi. No, you don't need a parking permit. I think the active chipmunks and mice were a result of previous messy campers. The site was relatively tidy but those little critters definitely knew the drill. Campers = Food.

Currently building my own cedar strip canoe, finally had the balls to start after watching your videos. One question, what type of map should I get to plan a little trip like this? Thanks in advance and love the videos, keep em coming! Take care.
@TrailguidePictures4 жыл бұрын
I'd say go with a map that you can understand. If it has a lot of information or not enough and you find it confusing or unclear, then look for a different one. Just understand the orientation and scale of the map, bring a compass and practice following the shoreline and matching the landscape to the map. Good luck with your build.

Thank you. The mice scare me. Were they only on this one site? We never had mice trouble before til last year and this year for some reason. We cannot sleep with mice around. How are the portages there for beginners? We think we might go there next week. If it proves too involved we might do just McCrea Conservation Area instead.
@TrailguidePictures Жыл бұрын
The mice were only at the one campsite, but you never really know. Depends on how clean people keep the sites.
@Alien2799 Жыл бұрын
Thank you Jason for your replies. It is greatly appreciated!. How friendly is this lake for beginners? Are there many portages? I guess they are not too tough, long, are they?
@TrailguidePictures Жыл бұрын
@@Alien2799 The area is relatively well used so portages are easy to find and follow. The portages at the entrance into the area are good. There is one that is slightly steep but short and another that is fairly level. Care should be taken on all water but I can say that these lakes are relatively protected. They can get a bit windy but plan your day according to the conditions. It’s a beautiful area

@@TrailguidePictures Thank you so much, Jason. Now I am looking forward to it. Probably we will leave this Wednesday for a few days or till we run out of food :) I am still trying to figure out the food organizing (dehydrating, recipes, portions, how much to take etc.) but I am learning. I end up taking too much. I think that it is not going to be too rainy. I hope it will be not too cold.

The deer flies were pretty bad. I got out of the canoe at a random spot to see if I could bush bash into another lake but only got about 50 feet before being chased out by the flies. Mosquitoes were really only bad for an hour at sunset.
