Proper job, well done, the new plants or grass will grow well in that area. It’s nothing but hard graft to remove stumps like that by hand. Ignore stump grinding comments, that’s a half baked cheap and nasty method with leaves a lot of wood in the ground rotting down and causing problems. If you can get a mini digger in that’ll make short work of it, but access is almost always an issue in UK gardens. If there is a good anchor like another large tree and you leave a long stump, you can use a come along winch sometimes. They are about 20 quid on flea bay👍🏻 I admire you work ethic, I’ve done plenty of stumps myself and it is hard.

Thanks for showing how you did this, and the hard work that goes into it. I've been asked to remove a big 7ft juniper. Nowhere near as big as your conifer, but without having any of that equipment I think I'm going to have to turn it down. Might be able to remove the branches with a hand saw, but I've got no chance with the stump!

Proper job that mate, so much better than the stump grinder bodge that just makes a huge pile of chip and soil that nothing can grow in and that sinks if you turf over it. Did you check there was no hedgehogs or animals below it? I had a terrible time getting two connifers this size remove from my new house last summer. The guy I hired charged me six hundred pounds to basically throw all the branches all over my garden, then said his saw couldn't cut through the stump so left and I had to pay him as he was becoming aggressive. I paid for the chipper hire which they got but it didn't work. I ended up having to pay someone to help me remove the branches and cut the stumps. Cost me nearly 1500 in the end.
