Excellent advice and instruction on gripping. I'm a 55+ athlete that struggles with some (most) of the CrossFit movements, but there's no way I'm giving up! Every day is a win, especially when I do better than the day before. Thanks Jason!

I use different grip of the bar depending on the movement Im doing. Example bar muscle up, safety first so thumbs around. Pull ups, toes to bar, suicide grip. Rings, no grips. And prefer grips with holes.

I always wear Bear Komplex for ring MU and will wear Bear Komplex or Victory for bar MU depending on the bar (how slippery it is, etc)

Clear advice, but I do wonder why then grips are made with finger holes. Further, these grips originated in gymnastics. Wonder if a gymnast would give similar advice.

Gymnasts have very different grips - good question though. Originally, grips were designed similar to gymnastics grips (but without the dowel). Over time... CrossFitters have abandoned putting fingers through the holes, for actually a better grip without. At least that's my experience.
