I really like that you spent so much attention on explaining why a strict muscle up is ideal. From what I've seen in videos, it appears that a lot of crossfitters get content with using huge kips in their muscle ups, and instead of progressing toward the strict muscle up, simply go for high reps of kipping muscle ups.

If you can do regular muscle ups on a pull up bar then only pay attention to the False grip that's the key.

the whole point of a muscle up is not to do any kind of kip. so every body that watches this video should know that your not doing a muscle up if your doing any kind of kiping action
@NOOBKILLER05210 жыл бұрын
What you think the point of a muscle up is doesn't make it true of everyone, be open minded. The whole point of him showing the EASIEST way to do one is so one might actually be able to do one. The strict comes later. You also obviously don't under stand the ideology of cross fit. The idea is to do as much work as possible is as little time as possible, for the most part. Think of it as you're in a competition and you have to do 10 and you want to beat everyone else. The most EFFICIENT way to of that is to kip. Cross fitters dont have the idea of bodybuilding in their workouts. That's what most people, like you, don't get. But that's not saying they never do strict, practicing with strict can make your kip easier. Think about what would translate to real world. An extreme would be If you were in a life death situation and getting over that bar would save you or someone else. Why would you strict it?
@navsquid3210 жыл бұрын
The whole point of a muscle up is to start hanging from the rings and end up on top of the rings, last time I checked.
@Hutchdesign10 жыл бұрын
Matt Williams Isn't he doing that?? :/ he starts below and works his way above in the same way just slightly differently. Is it different to speedway bike racing where they drift and moto gp where they lean.... they are both turning aren't they? just slightly different ways of doing it for effectiveness in the stated environment. It is better to kip, yes, but for crossfit, its not as efficient, time wise.
@navsquid3210 жыл бұрын
***** You're making my point for me.
@Hutchdesign10 жыл бұрын
not really... It's two different ways of getting the muscle up completed for different purposes - one speed and number - one for strength. Would you say using straps on a deadlift or when the weight gets heavy, using one forward and one reverse facing hand on the bar for a different grip makes it not a deadlift? no - its the same just utilising different techniques to get the job done. If im training for strength and control - strict is always the way but for AMRAP you change it slightly for maximum output - unless you want to be slow and inefficient.

I am so glad you didn't kipp.. igh I hate that. makes it look ugly and not a strong or ellagant as the muscle up should.
