I feel like a time traveler right going back and forth between your pod casts. My question is do you lose feeling in your areola?
@JasonMartinMD2 ай бұрын
while rare it is possible to lose some or all sensation to the nipple and areola. In these rare cases, sensation is often dimminshed but not completely numb and tends to improve overtime. However, it is a know risk and why we have this conversation with all of our breast lift and reduction patients prior to surgery.

Hey guys! I got my brachioplasty 3 weeks ago today and healing well. My next surgery, mommy makeover, I'm planning to have in 2024. I have deflated, saggy breasts and empty, saggy skin on my abdomen. Obviously I need a tummy tuck but my surgeon and he said my breast will need to be done in 2 stages. Lift w/the tummy tuck and then the later to come surgery for implants. I've watched many plastic surgeons discuss breastlift plus implants or to do it in 2 stages. The question is, what do the stats say?

Hi Jessica, so happy to hear you are healing well and already prepping for your next steps/surgery! True research in plastic surgery is limited and most surgeons base their recommendations on a combination of patient presentation, desired outcome, and their own surgical training and experience. The 'old school' way was definitely two-stage, lift then implants, and many surgeons have not strayed from this philosophy. True research is limited but there have been several well-done studies on breast augmentation alone vs. mastopexy with augmentation that show similar rates of complications. It's important to consider the risks and benefits of two surgeries/recoveries along with your presentation and desired outcome. There are rare cases where we will recommend a two-stage procedure, most commonly if a patient would like to have a very large implant for their body size.

I think I get it now. I think my confusion was around taking off the excess tissue after the lift. I thought that if you take off excess tissue that also meant it was a reduction. Thanks for the explanation. And one more thing, I hope you're not offended, but please don't assume all your listeners are American. I'm not, but I do appreciate your comments about hot tubs.

I didn’t like the feeling of them hanging down so low plus I would get rashes under them. I’m 3 weeks post-mastoplexy, age 73. Wanted to keep the DD but lift them. They look great so far but still very tender.

LOL! We use your own tissue to re-support and suspend the breast to a more youthful position. If only gravity wasn't fighting us every step of the way!

I’m a figure skater and worry about how much time I need off training… how long would you say I’ll need?
@JasonMartinMD Жыл бұрын
Hi n.k., thanks for watching! I would plan on 6 weeks of no intense training. Your surgeon may clear you to easy skate at 2-4 weeks post op but will likely not want you to do anything that raises your heart rate or has a risk of falls for at least 6 weeks. Hope that helps!
