Great in-depth review. Glad to see the newer version has a 120 inverter rather than the 110. That was the reason I went with the OUPES that did put out 120. The beeping noise you get with panels connected 24/7 was something I experienced with the old version of the Pecron 3000 I purchased 3 or 4 years ago . I believe this company was somehow connected to Pecron because of similarities between their products. The beeping was so annoying and I had bought it to power a freezer I had in the garage. I couldn’t use it because the inverter beeping told me the inverter was disabled. If I wasn’t around, the freezer would be off. Although it tested well, not being able to use solar panels 24/7 is a deal breaker. Glad you pointed that out to anyone thinking about buying it.

I have unfortunately heard that in the gangs stealing breaking into cars and houses that they use a device to cut off or disable or jam the WiFi so they aren’t caught on cameras people now have, like the ring doorbell. This comes crime police. I mention that becz if crooks have jamming devices all electronics that depend on WiFi are susceptible. I wouldn’t want any devices dependent on my WiFi for security reasons esp. not to mention the battery bank is supposed to be the back up when the the power is out.

Most of the apps available for these solar generators run off Bluetooth - not WiFi, although some can do both. Plus, just because some units have an app available to use doesn’t mean that is the only way you can operate and control them. They still also work fine just operating from the built-in display - as long as it is functioning.

Hi Jason, That's a decent power station for the price. It has nice upgrades over the older model too. I see it does have a few quirks though. Those beeps were annoying. I am surprised that it doesn't have app support, most new models have that feature. I think I would prefer an app. It would be nice to have that option and let the user decide to activate it or not. Yes, sadly in the winter time we have a lot of cloudy days to contend with and less daylight so it's difficult to test solar charging without using simulated solar. Thanks for another in depth review, this power station really does have a lot of nice things going for it. Up to 1000watts of solar input at 120v., a super fast UPS, expandability and a really attractive price. Take care, Steve.

It's too bad so many of these manufacturers skimp on the 12v outputs. A diesel heater needs 12amps at a minimum to start (due to the glow plug) -- Which means this one just isn't cut out for VanLifers. So far, the one I have been most excited to hear about was the Ugreen PowerRoam 2200 -- But there seems to be something hinky going on with Ugreen which they have thus far refused to address -- Namely that their Android app has been pulled from the PlayStore and that they have pulled both of their PowerRoam stations from Amazon. I guess there is always the Bluetti AC200P or AC200MAX -- But the enormous power supply/brick is going to be a dealbreaker for me.
@Jasonoid

I'll ask Ugreen about the Amazon listings and the app. I know Amazon has ridiculous seller fees, maybe they thought they can just sell it on their website.
@iamgrowler
@iamgrowler 5 ай бұрын
@@Jasonoid Yeah, let me know what they have to say. The app seems very integral to the functionality of the power station -- And not having a functioning android app is going to be a deal breaker for a whole lot of folks outside the Apple walled garden. As for Amazon -- People like me rely on Amazon reviews far more than they do on testimonials left on the manufacturers website. There are far too many ways reviews can be skewed on a companies website. Particularly when it comes to manufacturers honoring warranties. Amazon reviews (along with the EcoFlow subreddit) are what clued me in to EcoFlow's abysmal record when it comes to honoring warranties.

I measured 1830 Wh AC capacity using powerful devices and only 1560 using my PC and fridge. It consumed 2486 Wh for charging (I used the slow one), so the round trip efficiency is 73-83% depending on power of the devices. The idle power draw is higher than I wanted. I have Oukitel BP2000 for Europe, 230 Hz.

My meter is very similar to this one: amzn.to/3UiBTQ4 The 24v should also power a 12v fridge just fine since most are 12v/24v input. Just check the owners manual of the fridge to make sure the voltage is supported.

Your grading sheet is amazing! Thanks a lot for this! Also I want to ask you to add some other testing parameter - how many watt-hours do the power stations need to fully charge. And calculate the round trip efficiency - output energy divided by input energy. And another thing - X-boost support. It was important for me with my EcoPlay P1201 power station - it supports 1200 watt, but I could use it with my 1500 watt boiler - it reduces voltage to allow this.

very interesting unit, that UPS feature with the handy oscilloscope to measure the switch over time is amazing, i am very glad that you took the time to invest in it! i appreciate that it has a slow and quick charge switch, perhaps in an update and you have a non-cloudy day, check to see if it charges better with any of your arrays, but of course only if you have the time. the clicking in the morning would get very annoying real quick, definitely a limitation. re addon battery, would be nice to have the cable connecting the two, not be so bulky at the plug end so stacking them doesn't eat 6+ inches of space, right angle plug maybe? but this would be an industry wide thing. i also dont mind that it has or doesn't have an app. they are convenient if you can use them with only bluetooth and dont have to connect them to any wifi, but i would not want one that requires a wifi connection, iot devices are just asking to be hacked, while as long as your mobile device and the app is up to date, its usually safe to connect the two, however a internet connection should not be required for it to function, just for updates, imo any device that requires an internet connection to work properly, or use any features that should be integrated into it already, are just spyware and should be treated as such. love the review, thanks again Jason

It would be interesting to see a head to head video of standalone EBs. It would be nice to have the EB like this with the 48V output and 500-1000W MPPT input. EcoFlow would definitely lose the EB head to head. Basically something anyone can use as a bulk DC source for cheap. Currently I think a server rack battery and something like a Victron 100/30 MPPT is the best way to accomplish that without limiting it to a specific purpose.

@Jasonoid, the 2200w Pecron E1500lfp ALSO does the 95% charging thing. They said they put it in there but it is probably whomever builds the mppt boards for both companies. From what I have seen WITH MORE than enough solar(DC has to be in use for it to be seen plugged into AC) the input is being cut off regardless that the output is less than input until the batteries drop to 95%. This means it will cycle 5% at a time multiple time when it is not necessary. Those 5% cycles add up to 100% very quickly and unnecessarily. Doing the math…there will be not even 5 years to much less than 50% battery capacity. Try it on this unit.
@richardhobbs7107
@richardhobbs7107 5 ай бұрын
Those 5% 'cycles' are not a 'Cycle' for battery usage degradation. A 'cycle' is from 100% to 0% and back of battery state of charge . . . very few units see that kind of usage. Minimal discharge and recharge are less telling on a battery and if there is solar power in while unit is under load the battery sees even less use. Luckily I was not good at 'math' so I didn't do it ! I suggest if you feel anxiety from your calculations perhaps reviewing the four performances by the winner of 'Norway's Got Talent 2014' will give some relief to your grief ! ! !

Love your reviews but you really need to get a 4 wire load tester if you’re going to be doing watt hour capacity testing. You’re going to get lower numbers because you’re getting lower voltage…this could create a fairly significant discrepancy when the discharge is running for 10-20 hours

I'm discharging at 10 amps over 12 awg wire (rated at 20 amps continuous), most the voltage drop comes from the wires within the machine 12v socket so you cant avoid it. Some power stations don't get much voltage drop and some other machines get lots. I've debated about going to 10 awg wire with my load testers but I don't think it will make that much of a difference.

Also do you know the reason on why the power bank was beeping when being tethered to a solar panel overnight? Was it due to the panels not pulling a charge for an extended period of time? That's definitely a deal breaker for people (including myself) since they keep them plugged into a solar array 24/7. Like you say hopefully that's addressed in an update sooner than later.

@@brianw6645 none of the Bluetti units turn the AC inverter back on automatically once charging. The Ecoflow delta pro Ultra does have that feature but it's not in this category. It's called 'AC always on'.

I have the Version 1 FF Power. You CAN leave it connected to solar panels 24/7. It beeps when it detects light and it continues to beep until there is enough light to actually charge it. Then it stops beeping and just charges. I don't recall it beeping at the end of the day if it isn't fully charged when the sky goes dark. I suspect this new version would be the same in that respect. It appears, from your video, the screen times out at some point. This isn't the case with my version 1. It's VERY annoying to have that screen on while trying to sleep. I usually just cover it.

Unfortunately if the panels are left connected the beeping goes crazy in the morning! I had this thing in my basement during the first night I was testing and I thought a bomb was going to go off in the morning when thing thing started alarming! It would be cool if they fixed it.

Can you try to hold USB botton for 3 seconds, maybe the mute fuction icon appears and will not beep?
@keithbrookshire

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that and it appears the only thing that happened was turning the USB on and off. I'll check it out again when I hook up solar panels. @@mihaicristian2885

I found one critical issue. When charged to 100% and using as UPS, BP2000 discharges about 1.5% an hour. When it reaches about 95% it starts charging, I use slow charging, so it consumes 700 W. So in UPS mode it reduces available battery cycles and loads the power outlet when it is charging from 95% to 100%.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid Ай бұрын
I've seen power stations have that setting. It basically let's the battery cycle between 95% and 100%, up and down. The Ecoflow DPU does a similar thing between 98% and 100%.

@@Jasonoid Probably you should say about this in your reviews. And I believe the previous generation P2001 doesn't have this issue.

I had one of these and it started on fire on the second use. I contacted the company and they were awful to work with. I strongly recommend finding a different generator.

Fire? so what were you doing? Plugging in too high of solar panel voltage?

I bought BP2000. And it doesn't turn on until I plug it in. I'm really disappointed. Update. Now it works. After I loaded it with a kettle.

@@Jasonoid I don't know. I thought I would make a refund, but now blackouts started in Ukraine, so I'll use it. This thing is really loud. Using 1800 W for charging is too loud for me, so I only use 700 W, it's still loud, but much quieter.

I love the idea of a smart app but, if these things are supposed to go for 10 years, what are the chances of the app being supported at that point?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid Ай бұрын
Good point, hopefully the manufacturer would update the app periodically and allow backwards compatibility with previous models. That's how Ecoflow has done it so far.

Nice review but I wouldn't say affordable, on a fixed income. Thank you though.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 5 ай бұрын
That's a fair argument. I guess affordable is all relative. When compared to models that cost $1900 or $1700 for the same size inverter and battery capacity, this model is a much better cost at $1099 on it's current sale.

Wow, you're reviews are thorough..Except 53 cents a watt hour isn't close to being the price, unless I'm willing to do some math, which I'm not..I'm a smart App person as long as it's not required to use the item in question, if the app is required for the item to work, I would never buy it..

$1099 current price on FFpower website / 2048 watt hours = $0.53 per watt hour.
