Jason, always super helpful videos. One thing I have not seen a video on is the impact to Helix tones dependent on what system you are using. I created all my FOH patches with just the Helix and Headphones. Everything followed your basic preset measures (mic, cab, Compression at the end, etc.). It sounded amazing through my headphones and I was ready to go. When I actually used my presets through the P.A. system and IEMs, it sounded much less desirable, not horrible, but different than what I intended. I then setup my P.A. system in my garage and went through my 8 presets that I use for gigs and redesigned them. Mostly moving the mic placement or the mic itself, then EQ adjustments were all that was needed. The thing that really threw me is i needed more reverb for most of them as well. I think this would make a great video for gigging musicians.

The shelf EQ works a treat. I replaced all my low-hi cut EQ's for shelf and it really tightened up the sound as you say. Great advice. Tx.

Thanks Jason for remaking some of your older Videos. I always pick something new up up or see something that I messed. Doing Def Leppard's "HESTERIA" right now ...coming out good so far w/out the "ROCKMAN X100". JUST USING LINE 6 HELIX plus all the Magic in the DAW! Thank you Again, George ( Lots of tweaking to create these tones )

Excellent advice Jason. 👍 When I got my HX Stomp, I made the mistake of changing the Amp Parameters first to dial in sounds. It is extremely important to select the right Speakers and Mic/Position, then revisit the Amp settings. Line 6 Helix has done a better job with their Amp Presets than they are sometimes given credit for.

great stuff as always jason yesterday I smashed out 3 strat takes through three different amps + pick ups and put a bass through another amp combined with Superior drummer 3 and a few ace plug ins i am VERY impressed with how technology is allowing me to make mixes nearly on par with stuff like foo fighters, coldplay, muse etc…

I always prefer to create my presets just like in real life. Noise gate, amp, cab, reverbs and EQ's at taste. As you done here. Nice!

Tried the Shell EQ trick in some of my patches and it worked like magic ! Thanks a loooot for that. I have couple of patches that have no blocks available anymore to add the Shelf EQ, is there any other way to get the same result ? Maybe via a Graphic EQ already used in said patches ?

Mr Jason , is there a mic that works better with high gain say a dynamic vs ribbon , does it work that way , so if we are looking for more of a VH Brown type sound does a specific type of mic work better
