That's true i don't know why those hollywood movie companies never get the true fans involved. They always want to make it themselves and it usually is nothing close to the actual series. It's sad. Mortal Kombat may have been the closest i can think of. These short movies like this are made by the true real fans, no some hollywood companies that want to make money and don't care about the franchise. That's why these short-films are better then the hollywood productions! if the hollywood productions and the short film fan people that make short films like that, the hollywood movies comapanies plus the short film fan people, we could have something grand. The financial backing of the hollywood movie companies and the true input of the true fans that make videos like this and just the fans in general. All those forces combined we can have something damn good. Just imagine what we could have like if people that do these short films had an actually good hollywood size budget. Omg the possibilities are endless.

@@qxujevozaeni1240 I don't think so, because in SF (1st game) Sagat already had an eye patch and its arcade flyer explained that when Sagat was young, he got blinded by a delinquent (in alpha game instead of a delinquent, it was Dan's father or whatever). There is a possibility that the scar in Sagat's head was made at the same time (as a continuation/end of his chest scar). I say this because none of SF1 artwork has it and it only appears after SF1 (e.g. SF2 flyers shows that in artwork while telling Sagat scar was made by Ryu's Shoryuken). On the other hand, the anime SFIIMOVIE shows Sagat already having the scar on his head, so I really don't know.

So called fans and wannabe fitness 'experts' complaining that this isn't how it happened or Sagat is fat when this actor probably has trained and moved around more than most of us couch or computer potatoes have in years. Capcom and anime likes to exaggerate physiques so someone as ripped as Sagat in any of the source material art is rare to find or flat out doesn't exist. Also, in the original storyline (I hate saying canon, seriously 'fans' toss that word around at the drop of a dime), it was just a normal final fight in the original Street Fighter (World Warrior) tournament between Sagat and Ryu. No Satsui no Hado plot concept until YEARS later in Alpha 3. Quit whining. This film was obviously made because the director/producer's a fan TO HEART of the essence of the series and the characters. Just for fun so enough already, quit blabbering out of the side of your necks, people.

For all you people who are commenting about Sagat's weight, allow me to educate you on the reality of heavier guys (not morbidly obese, mind you, but those with not-so-lean physiques like the fellow in this video playing Sagat) in an actual fight. Having worked with multiple martial artists, boxers, MMA fighters, etc, over the years, I've come to learn one thing that I wouldn't believe had I not experienced it time and time again, myself; the guys with more body fat are more likely to come out on top than the lean guys who watch every carb they eat and worry about their body fat percentage. Why? I wondered the same thing for a long time. It's quite simple, however. See, a person can have hard muscle underneath layers of body fat and be stronger than someone who has virtually no or very little body fat, because 1) it actually does serve as a form of natural padding, and 2) it adds to a person's strength. Therefore, it makes them stronger on top of their underlying musculature AND protects them from easier internal pain and damage in actual hand-to-hand combat. They can absorb more blows and generally take more punishment than a leanly-built fighter. Being leanly built is all fine and good if you're just doing it for show, like if you're a model or a movie star who is only portraying a tough guy, but the real threats in hand-to-hand combat are the bigger guys. If you're a leaner, faster, more aggressive fighter, believe me, you'll wear yourself out and succumb to their assault before they go down by your hand 7 times out of 10. That's not to say that all fat guys are naturally more resilient than you leaner guys out there... but the ones who like to fight.... yea... just don't judge a book by the cover that the world has placed in front of your faces.

I loved this clip, especially the mellow and contemplating atmosphere. Don't get bothered by those who miss the dark hadou stuff because of the sf canon. sf is about martial arts in the end, and every martial artist interpretates the ideal warrior in his own, personal way. Nice casting, and costuming was appropriate. The setting was very nice. It reminded me of the last stage of Street Fighter. I did have some big problems with this video. I am spoiled after watching 1000 pounds camera work and choreography. Knowing that they are also a fan production I can not help, but compare you to them. Knowing that they are a trained stunt team I doubt you could compare. I wish you stuck to punches and kicks the characters use in the game. A good modern cinematography rule is to not stay on one shot more than 7 seconds. If you do hold the shot make sure the camera re positions within the shot. (If you do not believe me watch a action movie and hot how long each shot is. The majority are under 7 seconds). The main problem was Ryu's motivation. The move Ryu used to put the scar on Sagat's chest the Metsu Shoryuken ( "Destroying Rising Dragon Fist") . This move was done by a sudden unlocking of the Satsui no Hado/ Dark Hado/ Killing intent. Ryu was losing, and wanted to win to the point of wanting to take Sagat's life. So having Ryu become calm and defeating Sagat was wrong. Great effort, and presentation.

In the canon, Ryu was consumed briefly by Satsui No Hadou so it was not a normal Shoryuken but more like Akuma's Gou-Shoryu so it would have been stronger and hence why it left a scar. Sagat had pretty much won the fight, but Ryu could not except it and went "Evil" for a moment

The omission of the "Satsui/Dark Hadou" techniques was not an oversight. I'm from the old school lore of Street Fighter and Alpha 1 where Ryu beat Sagat straight up. I've never really been a fan of the retconned Dark Hadou stuff that was added later. I left that out on purpose, but left enough room where it can be revealed later in a story arc if I so decide. I'm glad you guys like the project tho! thanks again for watching and shharing your feedback!
@nangbaby10 жыл бұрын
Harder Master This thing won't let me give you a thumbs up, but I "like" the comments I agree I don't like the retconned stuff because it detracts from what Ryu is supposed to be, a warrior who seeks meaning and purpose through the fight. Giving him a super-powered evil side might raise the tension, but it changes the very nature of the character. Personally, I think the added darkness makes Ryu a much more boring character because everybody and their mother has inner demons these days. The only good retcons were the ones that undid the utter mess left in the series after Street Fighter Alpha 3. I'm *still* mad about that game's story.

The white headband shows that this takes place earlier in Ryu's training, meaning he would be less calm and disciplined. He also says "Dammit" when he whiffs a grab in SFV.

Great video! I was referred to it through Khalid Birdsong, who does the webcomic Fried Chicken & Sushi - Khalid is a friend of Jason Yorrick's (Jason is also a character in the webcomic, too...)

WTF is written on ryu's belt ? That's not FU RIN KA ZAN, its more like whater, earth,wind and fire. Fu Rin Ka Zan means Wind, Forest, Fire and Mountain.
@HarderMaster10 жыл бұрын
I know what's supposed to be written on Ryu's belt. I changed it because as you can see in the film that I had him invoke Earth, Water, Wind and Fire to beat Sagat. Your Japanese is good tho ;) Thanks for watching!

Randy Gutierrez Thanks for watching! There's pretty much no such thing as a 7'5" Thai person, sorry. And I don't mind the nit picks, I've heard them many times before. ;-)

I'm pretty tired of this debate coming up again and again, so I'm going to try to give some of you guys some perspective on the casting process. When you have to cast a character that isn't of average size, maybe speaks a specific language, or has another defining feature,there are myriad factors that come into play. The major one is the source material. THERE ARE NO THAI PEOPLE WHO LOOK LIKE SAGAT. PERIOD. If there is one, he doesn't live in Los Angeles and do stunt work. Next, the stunt consideration. I could scour gyms to find some huge guy who "looks" like Sagat, but doesn't do any martial arts OR can't do them for camera safely and convincingly. Another HUGE consideration is money and resources. If you are fortunate to cast someone who can perform the job competently, looks the part, and is willing to do it for the amount that is offered, you have to weigh that against "Man, if he were juuust 15 pounds lighter" (Which is really the amount of weight so many of you are quibbling over) and whether or not they can get down to weight in the span of a few weeks. I don't have tens of thousands of dollars to spend on trainers and such to sculpt my actors to perfection. That being said, I think that the actor performed admirably (you can also see him fight Scott Adkins in "Undisputed") and definitely was a better representation of the character than the Street Fighter movie from the 90's. So when you guys want to tear down someone's work or looks, please take a moment to consider the time and effort put into making something for you to enjoy for free.
