What can you say. Jasper is a legend and the song is a fantastic remake of an already brilliant tune.

You captured the ambience, the sweet smell of Burgers and onions. The scented air of Candyfloss and the fragrance of Fish and chips. Ah, Blackpool ! Thanks for this. ( You can always cross the road and look out to sea !! )

Those were the days. When people merely urinated in public in #Blackpool rather than shooting up & stabbing each other.

Carrott was good. He told good stories and told them well. He was very funny... For a Brummie!
@pencilpauli9442Ай бұрын
Yeah Jaspa is the only person from Brum with a sense of humour. The rest of us are bereft of wit and jocularity so prevalent elsewhere. We don't even laugh at Jaspa's jokes. Although a man from Hall Green reputedly sniggered at the Mole sketch, but the stifled guffaw was later diagnosed as being the result of an aneurism. He made a full recovery, but sadly his wife died of shock at such an outburst of jollity.
@stephenjerome41353 жыл бұрын
Ahhh, this takes me back. I remember the first time I heard this on the Beat The Carrott LP. I think it was a song Jasper Carrott did on stage for the audience after recording the Beat The Carrott TV show for LWT. They recorded it and so it was added as a bonus track on the album. It would have been a bit too rude for TV which is probably why it wasn't recorded as part of the show, but I think it would have been nice if they had added it onto the DVD. I still have all the old Jasper Carrott albums. I have the Beat The Carrott TV show on DVD too. An early 80's TV classic.

Hilarious, and a very imaginative parody. Gives the impression of a handful or louts who are out to have a good time but evidently don't mean harm and are clearly not menacing. Compared with the original which portrays a utopian life!!!!

And a lovely bloke to boot as well. I used to wash dishes at the restaurant he bout around the corner from my house as a kid. Completely genuine feller, funny as anything but naturally so... It was never like he was "trying gags out" on us. Of course I never really understood what "Vinyl Vera" was in those days but I'm better read now :)

I played golf with Jasper Carrot in Menorca, where he used to host an annual tournament. Somebody else won the tournament and Jasper, as he grudgingly presented the glass trophy to the bloak, dropped it smashing on the floor. He was a nasty bugger!

0:57 - although out of focus, pretty sure thats Hastings seafront, the groynes and 'bottle alley' walkway give it away :) also thanks for the upload, never heard this before, made me laugh, but you can tell its a song of its time with the references to drink driving (attitudes were different back then.. thankfully not so now !)
