RACE REPORT - Javelin Sprintdays Round 2 - Blyton Park (Eastern)
It's only been a month since our last successful visit to Blyton Park Driving Centre, but we found out a lot can happen in four short weeks...
Returning from Round 1 we discovered a gearbox problem - necessitating a full teardown and repair. Fortunately, Quaife Engineering were incredibly helpful and supplied the replacement parts we needed tout-suite (and for a not-that-eye-watering price!).
Then, we took the car to Marlin Motor Engineers for some last minute adjustments on the dyno. During the test, we suffered a driveshaft problem, and with only a few hours until we needed to leave for the event, time was tight to get it repaired.
It is only thanks to other members of the USBsport gang putting in a mega shift that we were able to reach the starting line at all.
After our resounding success at the last event, where we entered our 1596cc featherweight into the 1800cc (J11) class, we decided to go one further this time around and enter J09, normally reserved for 2000cc cars - with 210hp or less.
Our very first lap (1:12.12) was only +0.25 from our class-winning time from last season, and we continued to improve our lines and braking points throughout the day to achieve an ultimate best lap of 1:10.75. This was good enough for 1st place in class J09, with a margin of 2.06s to 2nd place and only 0.18s from the all-time class record.

RESULT: 1st of 8 in class J09, 22nd of 83 overall
