Totally agree. I think people are misinterpreting it. It’s not a documentary. The films did not present much of the story as absolute truth. It's presenting what people think about it. That's the hallmark of the case; hystetical public opinion whipped up by media and most of it the product of wild imagination. We're left none the wiser at the end of it, and that's how it should be. Only the people who were there know what did and didn't happen.

That’s what confuses me the most to what people are mad about, like Ryan Murphy didn’t create the different views and theories that people had at the time he just collected them for his show to show how we will never know the truth, and it’s okay to think what you want with the situation.

Finally someone with sense! There are so many women on IG and TT that actually believe the actors are the real brothers or that each scenario was real and have already inundated the state. Mental illness is rampant. They forget they were 18 and 21 and could have walked away...not premeditated a dozen shots and gone on a spending spree. The parents were the monsters. This case happened in the 90s. Boomers were "raising" their children and adults were agast that kids would hurt let alone kill the parents. Reasonably so. At the time, you were not supposed to question your parents. Most parents still thought they were like God, everything they did was correct and if their child questioned them or asked for accountability for their bad behavior, they were out of line. My 15 year old brother got kicked out of our house for not "respecting" my mom and step dad. No adults questioned my mom's decision. No one questioned how the Menedez brothers were treated. It was never brought up in conversations about them. They were immediately guilty for disrespecting, hurting their parents, and killing them. What we now understand is, they were badly abused. In an abusive home you aren't taught ways to cope with the stress of abuse. Abusers want you stressed out. You aren't taught ways to get out, you aren't encouraged to talk to a therapist. There's no healthy conflict resolution. One person was God and they were to do what he said. What Lyle and Erik did was wrong and they should've went to prison. I don't feel enough weight was given to what they went through and that while they were old enough to know right from wrong, they weren't taught right from wrong in that home. They were raised by someone who refused to deal with their own trauma, who was emotionally immature, and probably had a personality disorder. That person was enabled and emboldened by their mother. They underwent horrific abuse and saw no way out. It's time to let the Menendez bothers out. I hope this docuseries draws attention to the case and people learn what really happened and rise up for these boys who went, almost seamlessly, from one prison to another.
