JG is by far and away the best triathlete up to and including 70.3 for consistency. Going to be interesting to see how he competes against tried and tested experienced Ironman competitors

Pretty normal. Most competitive marathon runners don't run marathon distance before they race it. Generally longest run is planned marathon race time, ideally around 38km. Otherwise too hard to recover from and train hard through the week.
