Many people seem to agree about the rising of Airbus and the demise of Boeing but despite the domain of the A-380, I will keep saying the Boeing 747-8 is the King of the skies as far as I am concerned.!!! I may be wrong but the well achieved line of the 747-8 is second to none.!!! I wouldn't change the KING one bit.!!!! Every single time I get to see one passing by in front of my balcony, I still say...THIS IS THE KING.!!! I don't know what you guys have to say about it.!!!!

The unfortunate thing, at least as I understand it, is that as beautiful as it is, and even with all the modern upgrades to the 800 series, it is still nowhere as fuel efficient as the A-380, or the 787 for that matter. Unfortunately, that is what is dooming it. There also seems to be more of a demand for longer haul options like the 787, as they can be filled up faster passenger-wise, rather than trying to fill up all seats on a jumbo, or even a super jumbo. I forget where I read it, but it seems as though orders are down for more A-380's, as opposed to 787's

+gasaholic47 Both B747-8i and A380 programs are in trouble because nobody is ordering them anymore. For long haul (with fuel efficient), airliners are going with either B787 Dreamliners or A350.

I have seen this 747 a number of times and it is amazingly quiet for aircraft flying over. Nice to see this quiet aircraft fly over my house under the flightpath in to Bournemouth. 737-8 produce a lot more noise, and one knows when they are about. This aircraft, hardly any noise. When I first herd this plane, I could not believe it was a 747. This aircraft is based at Bournemouth, and Bournemouth dose have a long enough runway for it. 767's fly nonstop to the Caribbean from Bournemouth.

You might have been a passenger inside the 747-8. I was on a 747-8 flight by Lufthansa. I could not believe it was a 747 because it was so QUIET. I was on a window seat facing the engines but I could ACTUALLY WHISPER to a friend of mine during flight. I think the Boeing company had worked very hard to improve fuel consumption, which means less vibration from engines but more air movement hence longer mileage after fueling.

The GEnx engines are known for being so quiet. The Dreamliner shares these engines, and the new 737 max have the same design. It’s said that the new “saw” design creates little controlled vortices that are less noisy than the ones that are generated by the traditional straight design. You can check Mentour’s video podcast talking about this :)

Long term super-ballin' I fabbed a shower door for the previous plane (747 SP). 400 personal man hours in a gold plated custom shower door. That was 1998-99 Even the screws were gold plated, ofc! Now rockin' a -8? good on them

Me too! But some other classic planes IMO are the DC-8,3 and 4 and the Boeing 707 and I loved the DC-10 and L-1011 TriStar among the wide bodies. The DC-10 got a bad rap for a faulty cargo door and American 191 the engine came off at takeoff but it was already dam,aged from prior maintenance not following the proper handling of the engine and pileon assemblies and this damaged the mounting bolts and other hardware. Again not the fault of the DC-10.

She is based here at Bournemouth International Airport (HURN) in the UK, the crown prince also still have VP-BAT whis one of only a handful of 747 SP flying also based at HURN. Good footage guys :P

Flys in to Bournemouth a lot, and a lot quieter than the 737-800. I live under a flightpath at just under 3000 feet going overhead. Always nice to see the 747 in flight.

This is awesome beautiful airplane the 747-8. This airplane I have more windows on the top from the flight deck and back out with a lot of seats from the flight deck down to below and I wonder how many passengers that fly This Plane so may I say. this I see the 747- 400 at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia.. I watch them take off and landing at the airport and it's wonderful and beautiful . I love flying on planes to travel to London England and Sydney Australia .✈✈
