Hello, the service installed software for the 2022 Sandero Stepway turbo sound problem. Consumption increased and performance decreased. What do you recommend? Also, what is the engine life of this vehicle?

@ I do a lot of updates every day and no one has had any problems yet. It is possible that they have reset the memories and now the engine needs some time to reset itself. This can be fixed by doing some mileage. This engine is used by driving schools and taxi drivers. I have seen engines with 300,000 km.

I have a 2023 Clio V TCe 90 manual new ordered since April. Now in December 2024, after 1 small maintenance last april and 41k km’s on it, no complaints and very well built small car😎

I just ordered the Renault Clio V Esprit Alpine with this engine with a 6-speed manual. In about a month I will pick it up from the dealer. Absolutely looking forward to it. Stunning looking car! I have a Citroen C3 with a 1.2 puretech for about 2 years now from 2016 (2009-2016 model) that I bought second-hand with relatively high mileage for its age (95k km - now 110k km). But considering all of the puretech probems (especially the wet cambelt that doesn't inspire confidence over years of ownership) I couldn't resist trading it in at a decent price. In all fairness, my puretech runs fine (it had its belt replaced in september 2024). But I keep seeing a lot of issues with these engines online from other owners. That definitely helped with my decision to sell it for an (arguably) much better engine and car in general.

My 2022 Dacia Sandero Comfort TCe90 with its 6 speed manual gearbox is a nice, quiet & smooth running car. Great value. Decent little engine with enough power for the size of car & its use.

The 1.0 TCe 110 hp engine is technically called HR10DDT and is also a 3-cylinder, 1,000 cc engine but with direct injection. It is a smaller version of the 4-cylinder HR13DDT engine.

This little engine looks way better than the awful Ford 3cyl ecoboom , its actually got a METAL cam chain instead of an oil soaked rubber band !!

The same with the 1.2 puretech from PSA (wet cambelt). Terrible design especially for longer trips where the engine oils gets very hot.

Javier, thanks for the video. I own clio 5 with this engine and I'm surprised how quickly this engine heats up. According to video the engine has separate cooling for the cylinder head and engine block with two thermostats. Can you explain briefly how the cooling system works that makes the engine to heat up so quickly? I wonder if the cooling fluid circulates from the start of the cold engine or it starts to circulate once the engine reaches some defined temperature?

Thanks for watching the video and commenting. With a cold engine, the water only circulates through the upper part of the engine (cylinder head). With an engine that is already hot, starting at 87ºC, the water circulates through the upper part and the lower part (engine block) and both circuits circulate through the radiator. In this way, the engine independently reaches its ideal operating temperature faster. There are 2 thermostats in a single piece.

I had one in a rental car in Portugal. It is a very nice engine, performs very nicely, but would not have it in my own car, I doubt it lasts very long.

Solo un disguido, spesso ricevo il messaggio "Livello Olio Rabboccare" ma verificando dall'Asta manualmente (lo hanno visto 3 meccanici) il livello è ok. Anche il meccanico ufficiale ha detto che è ok, poi il messaggio scompare e in officina mi dicono che devo andare da loro solo con il messaggio visualizzato altrimenti in diagnostica non lo vedono. Cosa potrei verificare? Grazie

Sorry for the delay. There are cases where the problem is the instrument panel (small size). A reprogramming of the panel is the solution. The second solution is to replace the oil level sensor.

@@pharaonbender Non c'è bisogno di preoccuparsi. I giri sono variabili e si adattano alle esigenze del motore in funzione: Temperatura carica della batteria condizionatore d'aria velocità (ritenzione) Marcia inserita (in attesa) I giri vengono regolati automaticamente per un funzionamento ottimale. Un minimo anomalo indicherebbe un guasto nel quadro strumenti.

How much hp and torque can we get from Stage 1 software if we apply it ? The engine is very enough in city traffics , but at the autobahn the car suffers a little bit because of low torque.Especially when you are fully loaded and 5 people in car with A/C on.

100 hp / 160 Nm is the original power of this engine. Its small displacement and power limit it to use mainly in urban areas. With a loaded vehicle its performance is very limited...

Renault does not provide information on the life of an engine. It only reports that with proper maintenance and care the engine has the same useful life as the vehicle. During engine tests, they cover up to 300,000 km to check its reliability.

My neighbor is a taxi driver..He has a Dachia with the same engine, gasoline + gas manual 6 speed..Properly serviced at an authorized service center. Now it has 429 thousand kilometers without any major problems. That's why I bought a Captur, with the same engine..now 36 thousand kilometers, without a single problem. At the last service, the mechanic told me: Renault has finally made a reliable engine.

Ciao Javier, ho il motore 1.0 tce su clio con 4000 km. Ora avverto una vibrazione intorno ai 900/1000 giri soprattutto in rilascio dell'acceleratore. Sento la vibrazione solo in abitacolo con i finestrini chiusi, fuori non avverto nessun rumore. Il motore in marcia è fluido e silenzioso, sembra che a questi giri aumenti la vibrazione, potrebbe provenire dallo scarico? O è normale per un 3 cilindri?

@@pharaonbender vibrazioni da nuovo? vibrazioni con rumore? Questo motore a 3 cilindri è caratterizzato da poche vibrazioni ai bassi regimi. Renault investe molta tecnologia per ridurre il più possibile le vibrazioni... è opportuno valutare l'entità delle vibrazioni del vostro motore per escludere un possibile guasto...

Non alla Renault. Esistono officine specializzate che riprogrammano la centralina dell'iniezione e aumentano un po' la potenza. Non consiglio di manipolare il centralino.
