As a metalhead it always makes me happy to see people actually give heavy music a chance. So many people get scared by metal and think that we’re evil people and that all metal is just screaming. 99% of metalheads are super awesome and nice people. Thanks to Nu Metal bands like Korn, a lot of hip hop fans and rap fans started getting into metal.

As a white boy who's brain processes rock music as default music in which all other forms of music are just weird variations of rock music, it's really fun to hear the perspective of someone not too familiar with it getting into it. Like when you described discovering punk, man that was cool. Or how you described Nirvana as having 'early 2000s Disney channel vibes' when in reality a lot the disney channel in the early 2000s had Nirvana vibes cuz Nirvana came first. Good video.

As a Metalhead, this is actually amazing. I love when new people discover this genre of music. Also, I love the intro. The post solo riff in Master Of Puppets in criminally underrated. I suggest listening to Morbid Angel if you want to get into some old school metal! Much love man.

The first time I heard that MoP riff I was a little blown away. On the surface, its pretty simple (just running up and down the minor scale) but it sounds so damn good. I too am a metalhead, and I really like the more modern stuff as well as the old stuff (Periphery, After the Burial, Slaughter to Prevail, Meshuggah) and get so happy when someone starts even bopping their head slightly to metal. Im not the biggest fan of rap, but this guy already earned my respect.

One of my favorite things about rock is not only the beautiful use of drums, guitar, and bass (also the more organic sound to it compared to a lot of the digitally produced songs today), but also the many sub-genres inside of it. Just to name a few of my favorite genres, you have punk, metal, emo, and shoegaze. While these may seem like broad and undescriptive terms, there are actually many different sub-genres in these genres of rock, such as pop punk, ska punk, post-punk, horror punk, thrash metal, heavy metal, nu-metal, alternative metal, midwest emo, emo pop, and emo rap. To add even more to the diverse genre of rock, there are also combinations of different genres to create a new and unique genre, such as grunge in the early 90s (a combination of punk, metal, and alternative rock). While I have mentioned a great deal of genres already, this is only the tip of iceberg, as there are many many more genres that are either mainstream or underground. This is why I love rock music so much, as there is a sound for everybody, no matter how different your music tastes are. Another thing I really enjoy about this is the experience of being able to explore different sub-genres and possibly find your favorite band or genre. Lastly, I think that the diverse nature of rock music also allows me to never tire of it, as I could always switch sub-genres if I'm getting tired of the band or song I'm listening to. P.S. some bands I recommend based off of the bands you mentioned in the video would be Title Fight, Alice in Chains, Sunny Day Real Estate, Soundgarden, and the Linkin Park, give them a listen if you want!

Those bands are amazing! If you admit requests, one of my favourite bands are Korn and Slipknot, if you like rap and metal, this is literally a mixture of both. In general any kind of Nu Metal (which is basicly the genre for Deftones and these bands i've mentioned) is amazing (at least for me), I think you're going to love them

Bro, Deftones has always been my second fave, but you totally forgot KORN, who is number one. Do a Part 2 and put Korn in there; those dudes RULE. I started to listen to Korn, Deftones, Radio Head, and more back in the early '90s, but to be honest me, and my brother listened to Kiss back in the '70s. We were the only black little boys in the hood listening to Rock. Our friends thought we were possessed by the devil. 😂🤘🎸

yo, glad you've discovered a new genres :) If you're interested in some cool bands - try Thornhill, Sleep Token, Loathe(they have some very heavy songs, but also Deftones inspired ones too, such as Two Way Mirror), maybe Northlane. And as for guitar - try putting lighter gauge strings, especially if you have acoustic, since there are frequently very thick strings put on them

A tactic I learned in order to not get too overwhelmed by the variety of bands I started listening to (I started off as a rap fan with Kanye and Tyler but branched off into rock) is to listen to bands that peaked in similar but successive eras to one another. For example I started with the Beatles (the 60s), then Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin (the 70s), and I'm currently making my way across eras to hopefully start listening to Radiohead lmao

As a person who has been into rock and metal music for a few years now, I really appreciate other people getting into it. There are some awesome bands that don't have the screamy vocals and still sound heavy. One of the best (in my opinion) for starting with heavier musc sub-genres of metal is nu-metal (so called rap rock), it mixes in a lot of different genres like hip hop and rap which i think is worth checking out if you're new to metal and rock. It's never late to discover new cool music no matter what genre it is.

I've been playing guitar consistently for 4 years and the inverse happened to me. Wherein I recently got into rap and grime lately after strictly listening to instrumental guitar genres, from rock to djent to jazz rock fusion. Its such a great feeling to gain an appreciation and liking for a genre you never really bothered listening to before. It's not that I found instrumental guitar boring, its just fatiguing to listen to when you just want to relax. They're great when I want to get inspired to play or learn new ways to approach the instrument, but after such a long time, it felt like a job; repetitively having to keep a part of my brain on to analyze what I'm listening to. I found comfort in rap as the musical elements are simpler. The intervals are more digestable and sound less cacophonic. Great when I just want to vibe around. Happy for you for learning guitar, its a great instrument and I hope you keep up at it! P.s. Just watched you yesterday and your video "YEAT fans be like" came up on my recommended. It was funny and entertaining as Yeat is my favourite rap artist at the moment lmao

Praise God I was blessed to love different kinds of music. I loved 90 r & b but during the early 2000s hard rock music like Evanescence, Breaking Be Benjamin, System Of The Down, Three Days Grace, and Flyleaf it was amazing a whole new world that was such a beautiful mental experience. Then during 2010 Pop Songs and EDM was another world that really made me enjoy the music. Other than Jazz EDM was the only music that didn’t have lyrics (or much of) singing to it. I loved it so much. Now Gospel music was something that is my top number one. Either way I love Gospel, Worship Music, EDM, Pop, Rock-Pop, Hard Rock, Punk Rock, Indie, Folk Indie, Opera, and etc.

This is the same energy as me exploring rap albums as a rock and metal listener. I was bored of listening to my music and decided to listen to an MF DOOM album. He literally changed my opinion on rap as a whole. I then listened to some Kanye, Tyler, Biggie, and Death Grips. I really enjoyed their music. Some recommendations for metal I got is System of a Down's Toxicity, Tool's Lateralus, and Rage Against the Machine's self titled. They're solid albums. Also thanks for telling me about Rocksmith, seems like a decent program.

This album changed my life as a musician, and it's my favorite of all time, it's called Spiderland by Slint. It has a really dark and eerie vibe, and it gets really quiet, but also really loud. Bro I just went through the same change. I listened to Yeat and Opium only but I loved this local band called Flipturn(it's like indie rock)so I decided I wanted to find out more music like it, so I put in Flipturn radio and the first song that played was Booster Seat by Spacey Jane. They're this Australian indie rock band and I'm not joking when I say they make some of the best music I've ever heard. So clean, the vocals, lyrics, production, it's all amazing and the guys' voice was amazing. I then went through the Australian indie rock scene and while nothing was as good as Spacey Jane, there still was some heat. Trucks by Spacey Jane is literally the best song I've ever listened to. The vocals, the story, the lyrics, and the production, actually gave me a feeling of nostalgia and it doesn't even try it just is talking about hard times and working through the low points but something about it was so pure. People call me emo now but I don't care. Listen to Booster Seat by Spacey Jane and you'll go through the same thing.
