Would be cool to see a more random fight like the champs were saying. You could have four fighters get ready for a set date to fight at the same weight and have the fight random, they would know the other three fighters, but it would be impossible to train for all tree other guys.

Frank Mir is a true strategist. You can just tell by the way he mentioned how his daughter was going to pursue wrestling instead of jumping right into fighting because the _window of competition_ was smaller there and something you have to do now or never (could return to fighting after). But the *BIGGEST* thing he highlighted was that it was not a step _backwards_ but actually a step forward because the big take away is that she will have a strong *WRESTLING* foundation. He emphasized it even more by saying if she did something like surfing that there wasn’t much that translates over to MMA. I like this take because I do this with a LOT of things. If I’m going to pursue something I intentionally *LOOK* for carry over skills. And I think that is something that comes to MIXED martial arts fighters (I am not one). Because you’re constantly mixing up your skill sets.

20:38 That story is slightly incorrect. What happened for UFC 151 was that Jon Jones was supposed to fight Dan Henderson. There were rumblings that Hendo was going to pull out. Eventually Hendo did pull out a few days before the fight and Chael offered to step up and replace him. Chael Sonnen and Dan Henderson were training partners and trained together at the same gym. Greg Jackson told Jon Jones that it's a possibility that Chael Sonnen has been preparing to face Jon Jones all along, knowing Henderson was going to pull out but that Jon didn't have the adequate time to prepare specifically for Chael, therefore UFC 151 ended up being cancelled. Dana White called Greg Jackson a sports killer, etc... it was a big deal at the time.

8:22 that is so true. That is how I felt about grappling until I grappled with someone who had been learning it. The grappling aspect is just as important as the striking aspect.
