the gyms they are in pay them to train there like they do tiger woods to wear nike shirts... it doesn't matter how nice your gym is, it matters how hard you work... in reality, small gyms require more creativity and give you more focus with privacy...

What I don't understand is how the hell Jay can remain so huge pushing such baby weights! Seriously! I weigh 185 lbs-if that-and I can easily do every exercise he did here with more weight than he used. I mean he has more than 100 lbs on me! Leg-pressing 720? Really? Shouldn't a guy with 30 inch thighs like Jay be leg-pressing 2,000 lbs in his sleep? And moving up from 315 to 365 in the squat and it's not even a barbell squat? I just don't get it. Again, a guy his size should rep out 600 lbs like nothing. Seems Jay has the size and the look down to a science, but nowhere near the strength that should go along with it. He's still one of my favorites, but it makes you wonder, esp when he won the Olympia by taking out the guy who says "Light weight!" and then squats 800 lbs.
@DeNilsPipe
@DeNilsPipe 11 жыл бұрын
You have to know, that he has a special training-system. It depends much more on high intensity and volume than on the ordinary wheightlifting. Bodybuilding has not much to do on mooving as much weight as you can. The root of the matter lies on 10-12 intensive reps, 4-5 sets of each exercise with 40 sec rest bewteen the sets and the last set after 15 sec of rest. And till the 2nd exercise every set until failure. But also every rep with the correct technic for the best pump. You've to recognize this. I changed my whole system into big Jay's, and what shall I tell you: for me it works terrific! Best grow EVER! Just try it out! But I tell you: If you do it the way Jay does, you will never ever use the same weights as Cutler does. No chance, and I knwo what I'm talking about ;) And please: I don't want to decry you, but you asked for a reasen and I wrote it down :) And I think I knwo what I'm talking about ^^
@MrDeppness
@MrDeppness 11 жыл бұрын
DeNilsPipe That still doesn't explain how leg-pressing 720 lbs for 10-12 reps brings you 30 inch legs. My legs are less than 24 inches and I can leg press 720 lbs in my warm-up. It's simple for me. There is a disconnect or incongruity between the weight Jay uses and the size he gets from it. Either he knows some steroid trick that nobody else knows or he is secretly killing it with much heavier weights when the cameras get turned off.
@DeNilsPipe
@DeNilsPipe 11 жыл бұрын
You're totaly wrong, it explains it. There is no reason for any discussion guy! Especially because of your steroid argument. That tells a lot about you. But it seems to be like you're the greatest bodybuilder ever. So go on and believe it or not, who cares? No one.
@an260
@an260 11 жыл бұрын
i'm not sure what to make of your comment...either you are trying to show off that you can lift heavy ass weights or you have no clue what bodybuilding is. BB is about getting the best muscle activation and not a dick measuring contest about who can lift the most weight. Cutler can squat 700 if he wanted to, but he is just sticking to weights which gives him the best results.
@MrDeppness
@MrDeppness 11 жыл бұрын
an260 None of the comments above have explained anything to me. I should have known better than to make a logical statement on a site where trolls roam and attack out of sheer boredom. You cannot get 30 inch legs from leg pressing 720 lbs. I leg press 900 and my legs are under 24 inches. You cannot argue with the math. There must be a correlation between weight pushed and size built. If you fail to comprehend this most basic of realities I have nothing more to say to any of you ass monkeys. Good day.

I think these guys get so strong compared to natural guys that the amount of weight they can lift in the big compound movements like stiff legs gets possibly to a level where it can be risky.Normally stiff legged deadlifts are the pinnacle movement for strengthening and developing the hammies due to the closed kinetic chain but there are risks for guys as powerful as Jay.
@treybailey7745

The reason why jay's legs are so big is because before he reached his 30's he use to barbell squat 600 to 700 lbs when he first started out bodybuilding (flex magazine) After reaching adequate size and also after having multiple injuries he switched to smith machine and concentrated more on slow controlled movements for the pump which I'm assuming just helped him maintain the size he already achieved. Hope this answers your question.
@surbjits

Trey Bailey where have you read this lol? dorian yates quit squatting quite early. ive never seen levrone squat etc. you DONT need the barbell squat to build up your legs - it's more of an 'overall' movement as it brings in stabilisers like the erectors, lower back etc. but in terms of pure isolation, the smith is far superior. dont know why it gets so much hate tbh its a very useful tool Another thing: strength =! muscle. I've seen quite a few weaklings push heavy weight in the squat to depth but they look like they dont even lift.

I wonder if squat on smith machine is good or not. Some people say they dont squat on smith machine for if you have knowledge about the movements of muscles, the smith machine is not helpful but i dont understand their suggestion. When i squat on smith machine(because other people are using squat tracks) i feel it lets me much more focus on my squads than free style squat in which the heavier the weight is the less i focus on squads but on other mascles to life up the weight. So after squat on smith machine rather free squat i feel more tensions on my squads and legs thinking i worked out legs otherwise i didt know whether i worked out legs or other parts (for example backs). I want to say to them that hey!! Muscle professionals, look at this world class builder who is training his legs on smith machine squat.

well yea of course you can do a lot more weight on machines, which just tell you how easy it is on it. I personally use free weights 80% of the time, i find machines too easy as a main part of the workout, i'm not talking about the weight, the fact that all you do is push or pull on it, and dont have to do shit for actually holding the weight, etc
@EndlersaurusRex
@EndlersaurusRex 12 жыл бұрын
Not going to lie. I didn't even watch the video. Jay appears to be the only bodybuilder that does go full or near full ROM. Your insult is vastly ignorant considering I'm 1) not a bodybuilder, but an NCAA athlete 2) have a video obviously demonstrating I have lifted before and 3) do not have anywhere near 40% BF. Hell, I probably don't even have more than 10
@EndlersaurusRex
@EndlersaurusRex 12 жыл бұрын
You can't make such vast assumptions without proof. Not everyone could develop the same type of body as Jay, but there are a fair few people who have the genetic predisposition that, if they were to take steroids, train like this, and follow the correct dieting, would obtain similar results.
@bludika
@bludika 11 жыл бұрын
how come so many bodybuilders use machines? is it because they no longer use free weights to increase mass and just use machines to tone and maintain the muscle mass? because isnt free weights superior to machines in terms of strength and mass building

Maybe I didn't want to put on more then 35lbs? I mean would you like to put on 50-60lbs? You would get fat, I was still pretty lean after I put on those 35lbs, alot of the weight was muscle, I can prove it by saying that my strongest achievement before putting on the weight in benchpress( everyone counts that so lets just use it) was like 125-135lbs, after it was 220-225, single rep. So some difference I would say
@-Zer0Dark-
@-Zer0Dark- 12 жыл бұрын
I was a personal trainer for 2 years, and in my experience, most people can gain your 35 pounds in just a few months. Do YOU eat poorly? In any case, I'm pretty sure he meant that he's been working out for 5 years, and gained a respectable 26 pounds of muscle (with no need to add more) - not that it took him 5 years to gain those 26 pounds. Meaning, it could have taken him 6 weeks to gain that weight, but he's maintained it for the past 5 years. Get it?
@RonMeijers
@RonMeijers 12 жыл бұрын
Everyone can train for 2 hours, but few (the ones on steroids) can recover from such a workout. I thing one hour will do. Maybe even 45 minutes. I tend to train 1 hour and 15-30 minutes. And those last 15-30 minutes are actually not at a hundred percent. But hey, you always got that feeling you didn't do enough when you did three big exercises, but you did ... The minute you tend to go in your reserves, you're doing to much. Go in, do your scheme, go home. Stimulate, don't annihilate

Are you referring to Metroflex? That is anything but a poverty gym. It looks the way it does because the owner Brian wants that old school, hardcore feel to his gym. Branch Warren, Johnnie Jackson and a lot of professional football players and powerlifters have trained there too. Last year it was featured in Flex magazine as one of the top 10 gyms in the US.

All pro athletes train for over 2 hours. Endurance athletes will train for up to 6 hours a day. Yes, Jay is obviously on roids. A lot of roids. You need steroids to be this big. Hell, you need steroids if you want to be as ripped as Jay and 50 pounds lighter. But you don't need steroids to train for 2 hours.

the reason why most gyms have have certain equipments is because 1. they might not have room for it 2. they dont want to buy it ebcause they thinks its not worth it for the price 3. they wont buy it becuase they think people wont really use it. if u want a good leg workout stick to squats, leg presses, leg curls, and deadlifts

The amount of tissue burned is miniscule. A good 1.5, maybe 2-hour workout is pretty average. Plus, with the right supplements, you can not only counteract the catabolism quickly, but can even prevent it altogether. (Many people sip an amino acid shake during workouts to prevent muscle breakdown)
