I was raped by a Catholic priest when I was a boy. You know who apologized to me? Not a Catholic bishop. An Orthodox priest - who had nothing to do with it.

Hey Joseph. As I told you before, I have dealt with a lot from clergy so I can sympathize but this kind of comment that you offer here eventually runs out of gas. Plenty of Orthodox haven’t apologized for things they have done and plenty of Catholics have. I can point you to sex abuse scandals all over Orthodoxy. This doesn’t really determine where the truth is - it just shows where sin is. So while I can sympathize I really want to encourage you to drop the rhetoric and stick to the issues objectively. If I can help you work through these issues in any way - please let me know.

@Rana yeah, that is my point. Again, it shows where sin is but it doesn’t show where the fullness of Christ’s church is or isn’t. 21:06 Frankly, this doesn't add up. I have no knowledge of this e-drama outside of this letter, but the author presents this situation as if he simply wanted to get out of the situation and Jay, with no provocation, followed and doxed him just because he wanted to withdraw some articles from PF. The message from Jay some weeks later gives two options: either a) stop and leave "us and me out of your bs" or b) he will livestream and read the email. Question: leave Jay and them out of what? What is the "bs" that Jay is referring to? The way he presents it, they were mulling over his email for weeks and then out of the blue doxed and threatened him? Forgive me if I think the author may not be the innocent bully victim thay he portrays himself as, his only crime going along with Jay for too long. It's not just that moment; the article is full of strange and questionable aspects, (e.g. a lot of guilt by association). He's decrying mudslinging while himself engaging, and reading between the lines it sounds like he started it against Jay. You want to strike against him? Fine. But don't act like you didn't swing the first blow and act shocked and indignant when he responds, as if it came out of nowhere.

This “Noah Jefferson” of Rural Canada, home schooled until off to college. “Most of my interaction with Orthodoxy was online & primarily digital, I was motivated seek out a church in “real life” and I do a few times but the travel distance was too great.” Salvation ain’t worth going that far! “Thus, the internet continued to be my catechist for quiet sometime.” Wow, Where and what did he study in college? Master of Theological Studies with a Concentration in Orthodox and Eastern Christian Studies from Trinity College, University of Toronto!!! So, on his way to a bachelor in theology, he comes to the conclusion orthodoxy is the true church, gets his bachelors then proceeds to get a masters in the study of the church theology that he believes is the path to Salvation. For the simple fact that most WARS in history are fought freedom of religious choice, allegedly the pilgrims set sail on the Mayflower seeking a place to worship god in their tradition or belief. This “Noah” “Jefferson”, went 4(?) getting a bachelor’s degree & claiming what to most is a critical discovery life changing moment, & would be not the 2nd or 4th most important decision or change. Instead after all this enlightenment, he goes or stays where there is no church! Thus Noah Jefferson’s is fake name given to the fake user name who purposefully tried to create discord & chaos in in the discord.. The problem is how can he have so much church knowledge but at the same time not be know or claim to be so far away no one will physically check.. Problem is a person going through that sort of transition runs towards real life community & support of the church, not back to isolation empty of the worship & teaching of truth you claim you desire.

The PM from Dyer to the author of this piece is almost 1:1 with what he told me after I turned in Deacon Ananias to the church for attempted theft of a mission parish here in Montana. I’ve known Dyer since 2008 and never trusted him, but am shocked that anyone can’t see through his clearly unstable activities. He’s always been this way.

Can you speak more about this?
@ericcastleman2
@ericcastleman2 Жыл бұрын
@@ReasonandTheology For sure, but it is a long story so this is just the highlights. -Met Dyer in 2008 when I was in the process of becoming Catholic. Through the online apologetic community I ended going Orthodox - Perry Robinson sponsored me into the church. Through him, I met Deacon Ananias in Southern California in 2015. - Deacon Ananias was a completely different person back then, but due to issues in his life he became somewhat radicalized, and Perry and others started to distance themselves while remaining friendly. - My family and I moved to Montana after spending 10 or so years planning it, and Deacon Ananias announced he was also moving to Montana (this was during covid) and ended up moving to the same town as us within a week of our arrival. - I got to know DA much better here, and it wasn't good. Far out conspiracies, racist jokes, racist rants, and extreme far right ideas told me to keep my distance. I also felt he needed to separate from Dyer and focus on Orthodoxy and his dream of becoming a priest in the Orthodox Church, which I told him would ruin any chances he had of becoming a priest. He didn't listen. - They are users, so I was placed in a double bind. I either shut my mouth and distance myself, and allow DA to use my name in the local parish for credibility (he drops names to bloat his reputation) OR I confront him and become an enemy, and he and Dyer would try to dox me (like they ended up doing) - At some point he made a major misstep in front of the reader in the local parish when the conversation about Orthodoxy and minorities in America came up, when he said "Orthodoxy does not want any n****rs" (this is what the reader told me happened) to which DA was reported to the overseeing priest of the mission and immediately withdrawn as a candidate for priest. (Just like I told him would happen) - I had continued to stay out of it and away from the controversy, but the breaking point for me was when he texted me the details of a meeting he had put together with the parishioners of mission parish without the knowledge of the overseeing priest. The goal was to take the mission parish away from the OCA and place them under the Serbs, with the end goal of DA becoming the priest. - I turned over the texts to the priest for the basic reason that DA was dropping my name as in agreement with his actions to help bolster his case to others. This situation was quite a serious one, and I wanted no part in it. - I was messaged by Dyer as a "subverter" and that I was aiding the LGBT movement in Orthodoxy. Dyer's followers were told I was a CIA operative, which to me is quite a dangerous claim since his followers actually believe that sort of stuff and they are filling the Orthodox churches in America. -There is a lot more to the story, such as the odd creation of Patristic Faith - DA's employment at the local Catholic college - Dyer's reasons for affiliating with DA. Anywho, I can clarify any of these points if you'd like.

@@AdolfSchicklegruber actually, the position which generally goes by "Eastern Orthodoxy" has many inconsistencies. Something I would caution, however, is he seems to slightly overract in some areas such as his comments about Rooshv and being opposed to the nonsense that happened with Covid. I see this happen a lot even in Catholic circles where people overcorrect to be "anti rad trad" and then sometimes adopt positions that trend in a problematic way, like a pseudo support of sodomy or feminism that opposes a Catholic view of femininity. We have to avoid those overcorrections while still being able to call out the true evil from those groups we walked from.

The conspiracy theories point is really good, in fact I think it's the point where Jay Dyer gets a lot of things right (e.g. his analysis of Quigley's 'Tragedy and Hope' is top notch, as is a lot of his stuff on the entertainment industry). It's for this reason that people then assume he has the right ideas on theology, which is where things go horribly wrong.

For example the "Franklin Scandal" was a real scandal, but the aspects that Dyer pushes is that as described by John Decamp, are completely rubbish., as well as the perjured testimony of Paul Bonacci. Thank you Michael for this video. I wanted to know your thoughts on a possible bridge in the modern times between RC and EO. So basically, in 3 Constantinople, Sophronius' famous Encyclical Letter was accepted where it anathematizes a whole slew of individuals outside of communion for being heretics. But among them, it includes Isaiah of Gaza, Dorotheus of Gaza, and Barsanuphius, who are all universally venerated in both RC and EO. Their sainthood isn't a question. So, maybe this can show that since the 3 Constantinople anathemas (including against Pope Honorius) aren't infallible (obviously, lol) then neither are the anathematizations between Rome and Constantinople? I think this is a good justifying reason for Paul VI and Athenagoras lifting the anathemas.

All I know is that Jay (and therefore -- according to Jay -- Orthodoxy) is into essence-energies distinction, and that -- according to Jay -- Judaism isnt. Thats all Im interested in because I am Jewish. That means the action takes place in the preface to John, which I am not going to go into, except to say it sounds like a blurring of the lines between God's essence and energies.

That David Erhan is super unlikeable, I’ve been following Jay for years and I never liked that guy(Erhan). I am super appreciative for Jay for introducing me to certain theological topics and I still watch him when he’s not attacking other apostolic churches. He is a testament that God can use imperfect people to help bring people (like myself) into the church. To me Jay is like a really good guard dog; he is exactly the person you want to battle with arrogant atheists, but he should be kept safely away from people of other apostolic churches i.e. Latins, Orientals, Assyrians.

The Church preserved and transmitted the books in your Bible. You can't accept the Bible without also appealing to the Church. The Bible itself also says to submit to the oral teachings of the Apostles. "hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether BY WORD OF MOUTH, or our epistle" (2 Thess 2:15) The early Church didn't have a complete "Bible" for over a couple centuries, because virtually everything was transmitted orally. Even if the canon was universally complete, most of the laity were illiterate. "Bible Alone" would have been a completely foreign concept to them. Where were the "Bible Alone" Christians for the ensuing 1,500 years before the Reformation? We don't have any idols. If you think that icons of the saints are "idols", then were the Cherubims of gold which Yahweh commanded the Israelites to construct idols? (Exodus 25:18-19) Was the fiery serpent which God commanded Moses to construct an idol? (Numbers 21:8) If you have an issue with images, then you have an issue with the historic Christian faith and Church. Islam may be the right religion for you, not Christianity. As for "call no man father", you misuse Matthew 23. According to you, Jesus must have contradicted the Apostles. Paul refers to how he became the spiritual father of the Corinthians (1 Cor. 4:14-15). He refers to the Galatians as his little children (Gal. 4:19) and to Timothy (1 Cor. 4:17; 1 Tim. 1:2, 18; 2 Tim. 1:2, 2:1), Titus (Titus 1:4), and Onesimus (Philem. 10) as his spiritual sons. Peter refers to Mark as his spiritual son (1 Pet. 5:13), and John refers to his readers as his little children (1 John 2:1; 3 John 4). Abraham is referred to as the spiritual father of the Church on numerous occasions (James 2:21; Rom 4:16; Acts 7:2). The 'pre trib rapture' is totally insane nonsense, not found anywhere in the history of the Church until the 19th century. Even your early Reformers would have scoffed at it.

Since eastern orthodoxy, just like Roman, Catholicism are both false religions and oppose Christianity. Based on scripture alone, what does it really matter as there’s hundreds of organizations out there that say their additions to scripture or inspiration you’ve gotten directly from God, or the true religion. What I wanna know is I do all these guys choose to live in a country founded on Protestantism, especially the reformed version provided by the Puritans and pilgrims, instead of countries, dominated for centuries by RoEO church? Ever think about that? People from all these Roman Catholic dominated countries to the south all want to live in America.
@AluminiumT6
@AluminiumT6 Жыл бұрын
They're our Scriptures, dummy. Protestants just borrowed them (and deleted some books). Additionally, the Americas were initially colonized by the Spanish and Portuguese, not by Puritans. Saint Augustine (not Jamestown) is the oldest city in current-day US, and it was a Spanish city. Leading Founding Fathers were High Church Episcopalian, which is quite close to Catholicism in many ways, not Puritan lol. The history of Puritanism in the US is short-lived and quite irrelevant, and it proves the weakness and lack of vitality of that goofy sect. Further, it's clear that whoever adheres to a similar theology and worldview to that of puritans, that is, their low-IQ fundamentalist, iconoclastic spiritual descendants, are low-class in the US, while Catholics do quite well.
