Fantastic owners who were happy to let us film freely. As magnificent as High Tide is, they have not forgotten it’s supposed to be lived in - they use it exactly as one should! We are so glad we can show it to our viewers.

Donald and Jay, absolutely love this video and the conversations between you! High Tide is a gorgeous home. Agree with Jay about the coziness and quaintness, much better than some of the modern monstrosities that are nothing but gratuitous nods to cold industrial blandness! The style and detail of these old homes is so much more elegant, it is like art that you live in. And the Model T was a landmark in automotive history, it literally changed the world. The Pinto, well... a car for its time I guess. That Shelby sounds intoxicating, and a good manual transmission makes the driving experience so much more immersive.

The highlight of my week! Love when a new Mansions and motorcars drops... Especially when the cars are very near and dear to my to my heart. My 1928 Ford Model A Phaeton and a 2014 Shelby GT 500 are stablemates here at my garage so to take Donald and Jay have on the cars is very much appreciated in this episode! Not to mention my wife's first car was a Pinto in that same green shade...

14:22 I can see why Jay liked the Pinto. A friend of mine had one in the early 1990's. It had been "used and abused", yet the darn thing was still quite pleasant to drive. Assuming the recall "fix" for the gas tank issue had been done, I could easily see driving the "cream puff" in Jay and Donald's video. ✌👍👏

That song is stuck in my head today! Caught myself whistling it while working on the lathe to make a part for the Aston. Love this show. Jay and Donald's chemistry can't be faked, and they are the Dream Team of classic car knowledge. Making plans to bring a car to Audrain in 2025. Had a 75 Pinto Runabout. The Runabout was rumoured to be faster than a standard Pinto because of the stripe down the side. It was an autobox and I bought it in 1979 for $350. Yes, I was laughed at in school, but it never quit on me. Great show!

Love the videos and it’s sad to see that these videos only get 20-30k views. One thing I can recommend is realllly shortening the intro. KZbin will penalize videos if people skip through or click off in the first 30 seconds. In the video, actual content doesn’t start until 80 seconds in. Maybe in the future these can be edited where the first 1-2 minutes just straight to the content and then role the intro and call to action after.

Hi Donald, Just caught up with this episode, no idea how I’ve missed it until now! Anyway, love the cars chosen and that house is very nice too. Mind you I have never understood these properties being labelled as ‘cottages’ unless it was a 19th century jibe at the lower classes, do you know the history behind the term? Just curious. Here in Britain a cottage was a two up, two down (often a hovel) lived in by the poor although many today have been converted inside and let as holiday homes…..it’s a strange world. 🙂 Anyway, a challenge for you in the next series; you must come up with a tenuous connection that is more tenuous that the REALLY tenuous connection in this season finale! Best wishes from the UK, Mark

The true story of the Vanadium steel was that ford bought a wreck of a French race car and had the steel analyzed. Wills was an expert on the metallurgy. Ford was brutal in business and of course a heavy funder of Adolf Hitler, yet he had a Jewish guy design the rouge. It's complicated - he was a hell of a business man maybe the best ever until Elon. I wish I was in business before income tax. I have 5 Model T's and a TT truck , the cars before 1918 had no battery and no starter as you know. All are reliable and travel over the dirt roads of the ranch wit h easy, even in the mud when the F-250 gets stuck. . My sisters first car was a pinto. A Jensen Interceptor and a Jensen Healey were my sports cars I didn't have the money for a Shelby until I was 50 and I was into old Packard's by then . The house is superb and in a perfect location but the library isn't a library of a gentlemen, more for an illiterate dufuss. I am sure Donald has a serious Library - Leno ?? Cheers gentlemen great show -

The idea that turbosuperchargers are "free" energy isn't true. The backpressure on the exhaust does rob some energy from the engine. On the whole though, as described, turbos are more efficient. I personally also prefer mechanical superchargers. For one thing, there is no lag in response. Modern technology such as electrosuperchargers can completely overcome that disadvantage, but of course the electric motor also robs some power from the system.

The model T was just the right amount of car at the time. It had nothing extra, but just enough to get you from A to B. I understand that it had no real safety features and could not be built in this day and age. I wonder if a car could be built with the same thought now and be a success.
@avsystem3142
@avsystem3142 11 ай бұрын
The Ford Model T can also be credited with creating the automotive accessory aftermarket. As you point out, the cars were supplied by the manufacturer with the bare minimum of necessities. A vast industry arose to supply parts for owners wishing to upgrade the vehicles, for either/or appearance, performance or additional functionality.
