Jay always talked too fast. Half the time his brain is thinking one thing but his mouth stumbles and mumbles with the words that finally come out.

Jay milked the joke too much with headlines. They're funny on their own. Jay building them up, stumbling through trying to read them, doing the over excited vaudeville comic takes etc...That all distracts from the comedy inherent in the headline. Let the headline be funny.
