Jay Leno Undergoes Treatment for Severe Burns From Car Fire

In an exclusive video, Jay Leno is seen in a hyperbaric chamber undergoing treatment for the severe burns he sustained from a car fire. Leno's doctor Peter Grossman says the hyperbaric chamber helps to decrease swelling, increase blood flow with good oxygenation and decrease bacteria. He also says Leno will undergo another surgical procedure later this week. Dr. Grossman describes Leno's condition as good and even says he passed out cookies to young patients in the burn center.

The man has severe burns all over his hands and arms up to his elbows all over his chest and part of his face. He still made the effort through all that pain to bring a smile to the people around him....that's Jay Leno. What an amazing, strong human being. He immediately made sure that everyone knew he was gonna be ok and that he was in good spirits. Now he's passing cookies out to young burn victims and cracking jokes. So my daughter knows a girl that is 18 and was working in a country style restaurant in the kitchen. She walked past the gas range that had pots on it some of them very large and one was filled with frying oil. The item she was carrying caught the pot handle and tipped the whole stock pot of hot frying oil onto her. She unfortunately was wearing shorts and a T shirt. The oil burned mostly all of the skin off both her legs and left arm. I have seen pictures taken in the hospital and all I could think of was the unbelievable pain she will have to endure when they have to scrub the dead skin off. This happened earlier this week and the doctors think she will be on permanent disability. I hope that both this girl and Jay come through all right.

Imagine having to undergo debridement of the burned area. All of it has to be literally scrubbed off which leaves your actual flesh exposed. He would have had to be under general anesthesia for that process as it is incomparably painful. They can't put skin grafts on his wounds until there is granulation taking place which can take weeks. Then these temporary grafts have to be removed and skin taken from donor sites on his own body which is in itself a painful process that leaves vast scarring. Mr. Leno is in for months or even years of surgery. There is always the risk of rejection of even your own skin which is an extreme emergency. He won't be going home for quite some time. This is a life changing event for someone. I hope he recovers well.

The first thing I thought about was the hypobaric chamber when I heard of Leno's injuries.......The reason why is I watched a youtube clip the day before his accident about a woman in England who has been dealing with large ulcers on her legs for 10 years that would never heal. She was cleaning a dressing these wounds daily and doing everything directed of her but she could barely walk because these open wounds just wouldn't heal.......Finally a T.V. medic organized her to visit a hypabaraic chamber and she just sat and read a magazine in there. This chamber gets a lot more oxygen into your body which helps the healing process. After a number of sessions the healing process was remarkable.......It's a shame uninformed doctors don't know about these chambers so people just keep sufering in silence.

Third degree burns will definitely leave scarring. Plastic surgery might fix some of it but I doubt it will fix all of it. It does appear Mr. Leno will pull through this. Thanks for uploading:)
