I was at Syndicate in Vegas THE DAY BEFORE ADCC STARTED this last year…JRod did like 9 six minute rounds in a row on autopilot. NINE ROUNDS…45 straight minutes of grappling one day before the biggest event of his career. I rolled the first one with him personally and having not seen the pace he was putting on people later, I assumed he wanted to go light. I started in full mount and he worked escapes as his warmup. After my round watching him I realized watching “go light” doesn’t exist for him. I also trained w Felipe Costa (my Six Blades teammate) that day and the day before. Same division as JRod…they got 2nd and 3rd respectively at ADCC. Both only lost to Giancarlo. I got a bit of time in with Lovato as well who also got 2nd in his division. ….morals of this long a** comment: 1) JRod’s cardio and muscle recovery is borderline inhuman & he performs best under the lights 2) Felipe just won No-Gi worlds and is the hottest new grappler in the world in their division…I cannot WAIT to see him and JRod matchup 3) Lovato is literally the biggest savage on planet earth. When he won his semifinal match, I was filming a podcast and I almost flipped my computer off the table. 4) Apparently, I’m magic for ADCC because aside from me being a lucky rabbits foot…there’s NOTHING I’m bringing to the table aside from a 200 pound submission dummy and a lot of optimism thrown in their direction…so if you’re trynna make podium in ADCC and you aren’t in a SIX BLADES competitor’s division….$5,000 per round the week of the event. Spots filling up fast.

I tore my thumb pretty bad one time but thankfully avoided surgery. I was told to take 6 weeks off. I took 2 days then taped my thumb to my hand and had one karate chop hand for the next few weeks.
