Jay, I didn’t say this to you because I want something from you. I don’t need anything from anyone what I need is my wife back and she’s already gone to heaven so I just love you show I just wish you’d think just a little bit faster not faster but better before you make a move because I watch you do things twice as hard as you should have to, I’m gonna try and help you before you do things or I see you do something I’m gonna give you my two cents to see how you are if you use it or not by the way, did you close in the back of the new garage that you did because I don’t know how your weather goes and maybe it might come in that way and then your floors will be all wet and everything so I thought maybe you’d kind of closer in what a waterproofitem TX 111 is probably a very good you could paint that black try that little expensive but it will work and nobody’s gonna see it but you have a good day Jay God bless you and your family

Honestly, critters will make their way in unless he pours a floor. Gaps are more beneficial in this scenario. My great grandfather built a smokehouse with a poured floor, CMU around the perimeter, frame on 16” center with lap siding and tin nailed on the inside ceiling and walls. No varmints getting to his hams and beef!

I would store all the flammables in the new addition. I'd make one bay of the main garage a cutting and sanding area and the other bay for fabrication. Put nail, screws, glues, caulk and other fasteners on the fabrication side. Store all the wood around and other materials on the back wall.

Other shop makeovers I’ve seen put in storage units on locking casters. So they are portable and adaptable to changing needs. Plywood boxes / cabinet boxes with doors or drawers for storage. Or metal garage / tool storage units you can buy ready to use. Work table on casters, scrap wood organizers on casters. Mitre saw station, drill press station, band saw or lathe station, battery charging station, wall mount drill holders, vacuum system. Kyle from RR Builders designed a work trailer that was awesome. Michael Alm (KZbinr) is a woodworker & furniture builder, he built his custom shop. If everything has a home, it’s just as easy to put it down in its home rather than just leave out and have to move it twice. It’s a big job but take one task at a time and before long you’ll have it worked out. As much as you can get up off the floor the better. ❤Love the channel. Happy 2024 Jason & Stephanie🎉

You built you quite the shop there. My own 2 cents worth I think I would put the smart side panels in the back also to help make it a little more weather tight just in case you chose to work in it. I think you will enjoy the extra space for sure. Keep up the great content.

Jay, my only suggestions are to paint the front outside face of the shed and garage door the same color as your old/existing garage. Also i would paint the inside of the shed white on the walls and shelves to make it brighter, this will really help you see and find things in the nighttime when the lights are on. Other than that, well done and i am looking forward to seeing your next project.

Every time I watch one of these videos or the Perkins Brother's videos it encourages me to keep trying persuade my wife to find a piece of land up there and start building something. If you want to continue this channel with sponsorships, you should have a place to do your sponsor reads. The kitchen has definitely too much reverb. You have way more freedom in your shop to install lights and noise reduction panels. I don't know, what features your shop already has, but if you want to paint stuff in 50°F(10°C) and below weather a ventilation system would be good, since most paints I know should not be worked below 41°F(5°C) as per the manufacturer. If you want to be really fancy (and maybe get a sponsorship) you can go with a heat recovery ventilation. It's good to know about this stuff, since more new construction will require these i nthe future. It also cuts down on the heatpump bill. A dust collection system is also useful as it lets you work with sanding equipment with closed garage doors. A big shop vac works fine too. I've recently started hobby woodworking (mostly manual tools) I found it very useful to have a fixed place for every tool. Makes clean up much easier. I took a board of OSB, leaned it against the wall behind my workbench, put a few screws in strategic places and a hole in every tool that didn't already have one. You can go much fancier, but it does the trick for me. Hope, some of these are useful.

@stevebloch318410 ай бұрын
In that scenario you can run a stiff wire over the top of the door and snag the safety release on the inside. Takes a couple of tries, unless you just get lucky, but then you just pull the release and open the door.

Jay, some thick mil visqueen stapled to the interior framework (back and front) would help keep the rain out...akin to what you did with the smart siding by the shelves. Additionally, a piece of ground rated wood/rail road tie would make a good footer for the garage door since you did not want to pour one.

Hi Jay, really enjoy your videos. You're a funny guy! Great job on the additional storage. You said at the end of the video that you are going to start working on your shop and you wanted suggestions. Here are some I hope are useful. 1) Make all surfaces the same height as your tools so you can transition work pieces from one table to another. 2) I would put everything I could on wheels, with locking wheels on the corners. It makes it so much easier on your back to be able to make space for projects when you can just roll things out of the way. I've been an electrician for 40-years and if I lived nearby, you would have all the help you need on the electrical parts. It would be great to have a friend like you. Keep making great content, I for one will keep watching. Can't wait to see how your shop turns out!

Hi. I’ve always watched Perkins and think you’re the funniest one on their show. It wouldn’t be the same if you weren’t on there crackin’ on Eric. That’s how I found your channel when it use to be you and Ray. Been watching ever since. You asked for ideas or must haves about your shop and this project at the end of the video. A thought is to consider putting a gutter and downspout on your new shed side. It would only be one run and one downspout, but there will be a lot of water coming off over there now when it rains since half of the main roof is connected to it. If you have the gutter and downspout you have options. You can divert the water away from your build or you could run your downspout into a rain water barrel to catch plant water for Nana. I like the black contrast. Can’t wait to see phase two!!
