Former police detective Peter Bleskley says "conspiratorial bandwagon jumpers" are getting in the way of the search for missing Jay Slater.
The search for a British teenager who went missing during a holiday in Tenerife has entered its second week.
Jay Slater, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, disappeared following an attempt to walk back to his accommodation after missing a bus.
The apprentice bricklayer, 19, had attended the NRG music festival on the island with two friends before his disappearance and was last heard from on Monday last week.
The walk from Mr Slater’s last known location, Rural de Teno Park in the north of the island, to his accommodation would have taken about 11 hours on foot.
A fundraiser set up by the last person to speak to Mr Slater hit its target of £30,000 on Sunday.
The GoFundMe created by Lucy Law to “get Jay Slater home” had received £33,000 in donations by Monday morning.
A post on the page from Mr Slater’s mother, Debbie Duncan, confirmed the fundraiser was “approved by our family”.

The fact this bloke thinks it's normal for a lad to embark on an 11 hour walk with no water and 1% battery on his phone and then to only try and contact someone when his phone hits 1% is laughable. And as for the public being vilified for going to help in the search, Peter needs to keep in mind that it was a member of the public who found Nicola Bulley, not the Police or private search teams! The public. And they aren't conspiracy theories, they are suggestions and ideas as to where Jay might be! Because it's obvious that the police have no idea where he is and what's happened to him. No false! What’s hindering finding him, is looking around masca on the basis he got lost and fell. Ive literally just came Back from the place he went missing I went to have a look. The cafe he was seen the bus stop is a 5 min walk down the way he would of been told to walk. It’d a road and a path. There are big stones put there to stop cars potentially falling off the edge. There is very little chance he fell off the edge, very very unlikely. Unless he jumped. Going up there tonight has just confirmed to me he’s been taken.

I hope all of the people on here who are quick to write this poor boy off realise the error of their ways sooner rather than later, the injustices in this world are perpetrated by the evils we allow to exist.
