There now, I believe what you are trying to imply is not plaigerism because that is directly copying someone's works and passing it off as ones own. Tommy Boman the tradition is still practiced in Muslim community all over the world. There are literally millions of people who has the complete book memorized top to bottom and they keep on working on their memorization round the year throughout their entire life. I have a twelve year old son who just finished memorizing the book this year. He spends at least an hour a day practicing it. These folks are highly respected in the community as well. We have memorised the Quran and Hadith with full biographies of all the companions and the prophet (peace be upon him). However, the bibles earliest manual script is from the 4th and 5th century. We can prove the preservance of Quran and Hadith from oral tradition. But I would love a Christian to do the same for the bible.

Quite an arrogant statement from Jay Smith considering that he draws from sources that hardly form the consensus amongst western scholars on Islamic historiography. His insistence that Hadiths crystallized 2-300 years after the Prophet is one espoused by a minority of scholars. Others have reliably shown that at the very least, some Hadith traditions can be dated to Urwa ibn Zubayr who was merely a generation removed from the Prophet indicating that it was part of the larger context of Islamic scholarship already going underway in early Islam. It would be more intellectually honest if he were to disclose that the scholars he cites are a minority but it seems he has his own Christian agenda.
