I work as private sector security/bodyguard. I've worked a number of Knot shows and they're ALL extremely respectful and kind people. But Jay Weinberg takes it to another level. He's the most sincere, calm and (very) talkative of all the guys. I've worked for a number of bands and performers and Slipknot is consistently the most pleasant, even after the shows when I'm walking them to their dressing room and they're beat ass tired. I'm 6'7" 275lbs and thought I'm a few inches taller, Mick Thompson is a big mother fucker. 😂. He's shorter but it's honestly like someone put a Slipknot boiler suit on a Volkswagen. If you're going to meet then, do it when Mr. Crahan has taken his mask off. The first two shows I worked, he confused me and terrified me so much because speaking to Crahan is completely different than speaking with Clown. Totally seperate identities.

I'm so glad you said that metal musicians are the best musicians in the world. It's true. Not just the fact that they play fast. But when the music conveys a meaningful message and it touches precise pitches and tones with most if not all the members, to me it's undeniable. The talent plus speed of tempo means a capability that is unmatched anywhere. Even 30 member orchestras never play at the speed that metal stays in. It why Slipknot is my favorite band. They don't just play fast for fast sake and don't yell for yelling sake. Their combination of skills and creativity makes them hands down the best musicians on the planet. Some bands, like Dragonforce, never slow down. And bands like idk, Hatebreed, never stop screaming. It's why I love Slipknot. Hands down, they are the best musicians on the planet by far. All this with no real backup singers and Corey's not really that great at singing. Has great loud vocals and can sing lighter songs like Vermilion 2 but really doesn't possess a talent per se. Regardless they, by far, are my favorite band and favorite music, again, by far.

@Crazy Joe Davola yeah I've seen Gojira a handful of times the last few years with bands like Mastadon and Opeth. They blow me away every time. Their set was a little short at knotfest. No Mario drum solo ):. But Lamb of God was great earlier this year on Slayer's last tour!

@@Zxqxry But they aren't the original nine members.
@Zxqxry5 жыл бұрын
While I would now absolutely consider them members, I personally don't think they should be given numbers. Think back to the glory days. The number system was a way of distinguishing members without using their names as a way of hiding their identities. That time has long passed and we now know each member extremely well. (Besides Craig who is still somewhat a mystery. I wouldn't even know it if I walked past him in a super market). We know Jay and Alex. We have unmasked interviews with them. I think giving them a number would feel slightly gimmicky. But hey, just my opinion.

Hmmmm I'm kind of on a fence here.. The album is definitely recorded to a click. Solway Firth is a straight on 157 bpm song with no deviations, and Jay isn't exactly an atomic clock, not that it's a bad thing. And even though they have Craig in the band, doing samples. Unsainted for example, is definitely played to a backtrack.

@@matthewchavez5322 I'm trying to tell you that while you can speed up/slow down recorded parts, the work effort to make all instruments sound in time would be silly. Alone the fact that the guitars would be recorded to drums played without click would be a mess at best.

@jurajpetrovic15785 жыл бұрын
Neurosis has been an influence to Slipknot from the start (Joey mentioned them in several interviews), so they probably wouldn't sound what they sound like without them. I agree with Jay when he says that Neurosis is the heaviest band in the world. "Heaviness" is pretty subjective though, but I saw Slipknot twice in 2009 and Neurosis seven times since 2014 and while the two Slipknot shows were decent, Neurosis' live shows are a cathartic experience. I haven't really listened to Slipknot for about 10 years now but WANYK kinda rekindled my love for them and thanks to them I discovered Mastodon back in 2009 at a festival in Italy and thanks to Mastodon I've discovered Neurosis and they've been my favorite band for almost a decade. tl;dr: Don't listen to this guy, listen to Jay; check out Neurosis, they're amazing.
