It's a lot of references you probably won't get but the main gist is he's calling Nas a hypocrite. Nas is supposed to be this conscious rapper so to speak, yet some of his biggest songs around this time were "You Owe Me" and "Oochie Wally" which can be considered misogynistic tracks and honestly Jay had a point. Also, Jay was very philanthropic towards tragedies. Columbine happened in 99. Jay was in the middle of the hard knock life tour and gave proceeds of ticket sales to the victims. He led the charge with this. Same thing after 9/11. This was a much more effective diss than Supa Ugly. The problem was the public had already made thier mind up by this point. Still, it's a great diss track, he should have put it out sooner tho.

@Dex TV, the "Blueprint 2" and "It's Hovi Baby" was a shot at Nas and the last song from Jay Z which was actually the very first shot at Nas was "Is That Your Bitch" by Memphis Bleek ft Jay Z, Twister, Missy Elliott and H Money Baggs. I always found it very difficult comparing Ether & Takeover. Every verse of Ether was directed at Jay. On the other hand Take over had 4 verses. The first and last verse were not directed at Nas. Then one of of the 2 other verses was directed at Mobb Deep. Only one verse of Takeover was directed at Nas. This is why majority felt like Ether was harder since every single verse was directed at Jay. With only one verse directed at Nas, Takeover is still considered one of the greatest disses ever and the beef is still the most debated imo.
