BTW Duke suddenly became a meme generator in the localization I've wanted for years. At the end of "Backwater station" he just yells at Raynor "SHUT UP YOU LITTLE SHIT!" instead of smooth-threatening "Now I asked you nice the first time boy". In the briefing of "Desperate alliance" he says "there's nothing sacred for you, outland fools!" instead of "you damn fringe world yokels are all alike, don't know where your loyalties lie". And finally in this mission, instead of funny enough "that's what I call sloppy!" he literally says "that's one EPIC screw up!".

If you want this mission to go faster you can, at the beginning, sneak one of your commandcenters to the top left side of the map to get access to another source of vesbin gas.
@machaiping7 жыл бұрын
I never use the pre-placed nuke silos because it forced your command center way out of optimal mining position which slow down income. So I placed my Command Center as close to minerals as possible to get Marine-Siege Tanks faster. Nuke just not very useful in SC1 and Broodwar.

I always found this mission extremely easy just because duke can cripple brown by him self. The ability to just send him in at the very start and 1 shot there infantry sets the a.i way behind and allows you to just stack cash and defend with a few marines and missles turrets. By the time you move to strike the killing blow to brown you have enough cash to make 3 of every production building and all the depos required to reach the supply cap. Then it's just smooth sailing from there.

For this mission, I would always land the second CC closer to the minerals and build a third on the silo if I felt like using it. But I usually prefer to just use ghosts on the first base and move to goliaths and tanks, with wraith support, and Duke following along to yamato things where needed. Relying on nukes to do the bulk of the damage slows you waaaaaay down.

There was a Japanese TV show called battle ship Yamato when I was a kid ( I grew up in Japan that is why I'm a freelance translator part time) Wait Yamato cannon is the main cannon on the battle ship Yamato And it's in SC1 ??????? Is there a connection that I don't know about
@matheusdardenne7 жыл бұрын
Yamato is a reference to a japanese super-battleship back in WW2. This battleship had a battery of cannons that fired 460mm rounds (the biggest ever) that could sink any ship with a direct hit. Both Starcraft's and Battle Ship Yamato's "Yamato Cannon" are a reference to that beast of the asian seas.
@arnowisp62447 жыл бұрын
Matheus Adorni Dardenne and it sunk cause it was outnumbered. Didnt have much support to back it up. Like tanks without infantry support.
@matheusdardenne7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! And if I recall correctly, the US sent fricking 200 aircrafts and half a dozen ships to attack it, and Yamato still destroyed a huge part of the attacking force. Japaneses are an incredible people, when they want to get things done, things get done.
@TheFranchiseCA7 жыл бұрын
Matheus Adorni Dardenne Yamato destroyed few aircraft and no surface vessels during Operation Ten-Go. Neither was it particularly effective during the Battle off Samar, the only time it engaged surface vessels with its primary weapons, but a chase of a much lighter opposing force of destroyers and escort carriers wasn't what such a ship was built for. Her sister, Musashi, never fought a surface engagement before being sunk by aircraft during Leyte Gulf. They never had the chance to fire on cruisers, let alone stand toe to toe and trade shells with the USN's South Dakota or Iowa-class or the RN's Nelson or George V-class BBs. Yamato was built for WW1 tactics, but it was hard to know at the time it was constructed that naval warfare would so thoroughly switch to being carrier-focused. Battleships were too vulnerable to torpedoes and bombs to be cost effective. This shift was so pronounced the US stopped producing battleships before the war ended, and altogether abandoned the class once the Iowa-class could no longer be upgraded. No BB which started construction after 1941 was finished by any nation.
@loumencken96444 жыл бұрын
@@matheusdardenne The Yamato did not sink a "huge part" of any attacking force. Here is the pathetic war record of it and the other two battleships of the Yamato class: Yamato- at Leyte Gulf, it turned tail and ran when its task force were attacked with suicidal bravery by a few US destroyers and escort carriers. Later sunk by US aircraft. Musashi- sunk at Leyte Gulf by US aircraft. It never fired a shot at a US ship. Shinano- converted to an aircraft carrier before it was completed as a battleship. Neither the ship nor its planes ever fired a shot in anger since it was sunk by a US submarine before it could do so. In short, the Yamato and its sister ships were impressive-on-paper behemoths that were completely useless in battle and a staggering waste of resources.

This is kind of an opportunity to show the player how OP Terran Ghosts are. The AI won't scan cloaked ghosts when they are nuking (only when the ghosts use their guns). Since they start you out with 2 nuke silos, an easy way to win is to double nuke the enemy production buildings / Command Centers. GG EZPZ

@k-leb46713 жыл бұрын
I feel like the design of this mission is a bit stupid. Nukes and Ghosts are very gas-costly, yet there's only one geyser in the starting base. Why?! If the developers really wanted us to mess around with nukes, they should've given us the necessary gas income to comfortably afford it. Secondly, two Nuke Silos at the beginning is excessive, and basically everyone would want one of those abandoned add-ons to be a ComSat Station. You can always build more silos later. Thirdly, there's too little space in the starting area to really take advantage of add-ons or even just build enough Supply Depots and Missile Turrets. And to top it all off, it's an easy mission anyway! Duke can solo most things, and there's nothing to worry about once you nuke Brown's base. Also they give you all these floating buildings at the start, but not an Engineering Bay despite the fact that it can float too?! And only 3 Wraiths?!
