I sadly just had a friend pass. Her family gave me a few bins of yarn. This is perfect for what I have. Now we can all have a piece of “her”. She knit , I crochet; we were going to teach each other but we always got side tracked. This project touches my heart. I have followed almost all your videos. Thank you jadya you help more then you know. ❤️

I saw this project a few months ago and just knew I had to make one once I finished with Christmas presents. Then just before Christmas my father had a heart attack and I had to pack on the fly for I didn't know how long. I am soooooo happy I filled my backpack with most of my yarn stash as I have been out of state with him during his rehab for 6 weeks! He has made a full recovery and instead on bringing home a bunch of odds and ends of yarn, I have the most amazingly beautiful blanket to return with!!! I am completely enamored with how it turned out. I want to ask all of my friends for all of their scrap yarn and make more of them! Thank you for your tutorials and your whimsical nature! I have only been crocheting for a bit over two years and am self taught from KZbin videos like yours. You inspire me to have fun with my projects and to take a basic idea and change it up to make it my own. I look forward to many more videos from you!!!

Your tutorial is so easy to follow, and I think this blanket would look nice with the whites as the lights and all of my scrap colors as the darks! You've inspired me to give it a go! Thank you!!

@@JaydaInStitches I did it! It took me just 10 days to stitch while watching TV, and it came out beautiful! A small issue with getting my tension right... I made the chain with a 10mm and then switched to a 9mm, but it's still slightly wider at the end than it was at the beginning. I made it pretty large, too, for the hubby and me to snuggle under on cold nights, 58×70". Now EVERYONE wants one! I have to buy more yarn since I busted my stash! LOL Thank you for a wonderful and easy-to-follow tutorial!!

This is actually so helpful to me right now. I've finished two crochet granny square blankets now (working on a third patchwork square), and I have a lot of little balls and colors and old skeins that I never used that I need to get rid of. I'll have to pull out my whole stash and go through them all, and see what I can whip together! Feeling very excited now! And I'm headed to JoAnns/Hobby Lobby tomorrow to get the final touches for my third blanket, so even more additions to come for my scrappy blanket project. If it's big enough, I'll leave it at a family house my relatives go to for short vacations. I think they'd really enjoy it!

I recently bought a 10 mm hook just for this. I wanted to do a scrappy blanket anyways so I clicked this video more out of principle than interest, because I already have a plan. BUT I do love your style and there‘s always something of worth to take away from your instructions, such as the color sorting. Edit: I mentioned the color sorting specifically because I went and bought a big ball of white yarn as my base, but your sorting into light and dark makes so much sense! Oh well. I‘ll keep that in mind for next time. =)

This turned out great, I was a little skeptical at first with the color combinations, but because they are only done for short runs it turned out to be a stunning blanket. I also incorporated eyelash yarn but only carried it for short blocks with three yarns (light, dark, and eyelash) then would drop the eyelash yarn and then pick it back up going the other direction. All in all a smashing success and I already have family requests for more.

I am working on my Ultimate Odd-Ball, Stash-Buster Project - I made it 38" wide and so far it measures 48" long - want to make it about 6' so my hubby can use when he gets chilled. I love the pattern and it is coming out beautifully in my stash assortment of colors. As I work on it I love the feel of this blanket and I just want to stop and cuddle. I am very happy with this pattern you came up with and I thank you from the bottom of my stash barrel. Evelyn in Chicago

I just love this blanket and I have watched this video at least a dozen times admiring it!! But it is just too warm for here in Hawaii!! I have solved the problem. I am going to make this blanket for Comfort For Critters. They make small blankets (about 20 x 20 inches square) for sick or injured animals in the hospital. Our local humane society participates so no need mail them to Illinois!!! I am so happy I have finally figured this out!! All the sick animals will love you!!!❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Thank you!!!😀😀‼️

ahhh! What a wonderful idea :) You could also make this out of nothing but wool or cotton and it would serve as a nice little rug too ;)
@susanjackson53276 жыл бұрын
You could also use an even larger hook and a different stitch so it wouldn't be as warm.

Shari S aww thank you. I appreciate that. I don’t wanna bring anyone down. She had a long life but when it comes to pets it just never seems to be long enough. 😥 she died with all those who loved her around her. My heart is broken but I’m going to try to use the happy memories to heal. And taking Princess Frances’s suggestion and help some others. Thank you for your kindness, I wish you the best Shari! ❤️🌈

Good work Jayda. I do this from time to time and vary the type of stitches at times during crocheting the rug. I do complete the rows and then start another row with a different stitch ie sc to dc or tr but at times I will do a cluster or whatever I fancy I want to do but all fairly basic. I use different plys as in Australia for example we have 4ply, 5ply, 8ply. i vzry it so that you can't particularly see its thicker in one part to another. I had so much yarn after crocheting a large blanket I had hardly used up much of my stash. I decided to put the blanket in our local show as several people commented on how beautiful it was. I won a 1st prize against some other beautiful rugs which astounded me. Maybe I don't value my crocheting as much as I should.

Hi Meme, congratulations, that's fantastic! It also sounds really pretty, varying the stitches can also help create a neat texture on top of all the pretty colours :)

💐Thank you! I have been so confused for so many years on how to successfully turn and create a new row. Ive had to hide my mistakes with a kind of border at the end. My mom, friends and videos have tried to teach me. But until now I just didn’t comprehend. You are an awesome teacher💐

I've done this. I used up ALL of my left over yarn quite a few years back. I started out & every time I finished one yarn, I just tied on another. Made a pretty blanket. Also, another time, I used up left-over yarn by making a tunnel for our cats, putting metal hoops in it every few feet.

Th;is particular tutorial is very useful and practical. One small point. My mother and I used to make these blankets from scrap wool during the last war. We discovered that it is better to use wools that have similar ply. We often had scraps of two ply wool and this did not work in as evenly in combination with three and four ply. I notice this lady was not using any two ply wool. I think it is best to avoid it -or use all two ply together for a thinner texture blanket rather than to mix the plies. Otherwise I like this tutorial very much, and she explains it well and clearly..

@@JaydaInStitches I am building this blanket right now. Amazingly, I am keeping at it. I am slow but I have months of recovery to do so I think I will actually finish something. I love this stitch, I usually increase and decrease my rows at random. It seems as if I can't ever keep it straight. So, I give up and put it all away. but this blanket allows me to keep my rows straight!!! Thanks so much for all your smiles and encouragement. God Bless
