Comparing the height of buildings, Todaiji Temple is 15 stories high, and Horyuji Pagoda is 18 stories high. Inside the five-storied pagoda, there is a device called ``Shinbashira'' that suppresses the shaking of the building due to earthquakes. The five-storied pagoda was built in 752 AD, and the Tokyo Skytree also uses a central pillar to reduce vibrations.

Super insightful! It’s always so impressive knowing how much they knew in the past how to build things properly :) Thanks for sharing!!!

Nara , is a city that you connect with nature. The temples , the Shika deer. the parks. We loved it. I can remember the first time we visited my wife Harriet had the same experience with a Skika deer , being love bited from behind. They are precious creatures. We couldn't get enough of them. Great Food, Wonderful temples and Friendly people. Nara, a must see destination. Sounds like your time was joyest and fun. Sending you much love💗 from Richmond, VA. Jim and Harriet Have a Healthy and Safe New Year 2025!

Nara is a great place to visit. I probably liked it more than Kyoto as it seemed way less crowded and the shrines and temples are just as good.

Glad you enjoyed it Sean! The deers were so much fun but there was a point we really needed to take some time to think how to make friends with them 😂🦌🙏🏼✨
Beautiful words ❤️ We’ve read that the Nara deers are considered to be messengers of God so it felt so special being surrounded by all of them ✨🦌

Very informative! Thank you so much for sharing :) Even if the temples were restored, they still looked stunning and the atmosphere around - nature, roaming deers and landscapes - made us feel so special too 🥹
