Maybe it's fair to mention that they were mostly an engeniered group going so far that that guy Bobby was exclusively cast for his looks and moves - the deep singing voice is always producer Frank Farian himself ;) Made for a purpose, it was the hight of the Disco aera, and that it does really well.

This was one of those records that were basically recorded purely for disco. Lyrics are not really necessary as the only thing that mattered was the beat. Many hits in the 70s were like that, I know I remember them especially when the girls used to get up to dance and put their handbags on the floor and dance around them whilst the guys looked on too scared to get up.

A lot is already said in the comments about Boney M's (and Frank Farian's) history, so I might be a liitle bit redundant. Only a few facts: This was aired an Septembre 18, 1976 on German TV, a show called Musikladen (which means Music Store in English). This is, by the way, the reason why they are sitting still, they had to, due to the camera positions an so on. There exist several versions on youtube of this show, you picked the full version :-). Others are more or less "clean", without Maizie's moaning, but then unfortunately also without Marcie's wonderful "yeahs" and "alrights". It is widely known, and Marcie Barrett cofirms it once again in her latest 2021 interview, that all the studio singing and recording was done by Frank Farian, Liz Mitchell and herself. So every Bony M live performance had to be a combination of playback (lip sync) and (sometimes) open microphones for the girls, while in TV shows it was very often full playback. So this Musikladen event might have been an exception from that. I was 10 at the time, and it didn't bother me at all! We grew up with this music, and by the way, Germany and especially Munich was a hot spot of Disco music in the 70's. Remember the great Donna Summer, who lived and worked in Munich at the time, and some of her big hits were produced by Giorgio Moroder in his Musicland Studios in Munich. Another example for the so called munich sound was the the group Silver Convention, which was already mentioned in another comment. So Germany in that days was famous for so totally different music styles like Krautrock and electronic music on the one hand, and Disco music on the other.
