Deep Purple came out with this in 1970. They had a different vocalist and bass player in their first records, and they were playing kinda brit pop with some psychedelic flavor, until they decided to go with this direction (now known as hard rock). They were the fathers of hard rock alongside Led Zeppelin, who also were starting by that years, although Led Zepp were more blues oriented kind of vibe going on. Pink Floyd, on the other hand, were a psychedelic prog band, and started a little bit earlier. Man, you HAVE to listen Deep Purple´s BURN, from their third reincarnation, when they (again) changed their vocalist and bass player. And if possiible, watch the 1974 live version, it´s mind blowing. Then, watch the 2014 live version from a tribute concert for the late (and great) keyboard player Jon Lord. It features original Deep Purple´s drummer, current DP keyboardist Don Airey, Glenn Hughes, bass player and second voice from that third reincarnation and Iron Maiden´s front man Bruce Dickinson. BURN!
