Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-(!

They are not unaware of the competetion market .would like to see what one does on my antique 484 FE Super Gas car , but am winning with a QFT 850 currently .would be a good idea to dump one on the market of a few Qualified Racers, let them try an 850 on diff cars to get the feedback , let the carb move around the country at diff states to see the response.

Just came over from Uncle Tony's Garage to see what he was getting all exited about, i can see why now. Edelbrock have put a lot of thought into this, using symmetrical parts (float bowls and metering blocks etc) to cut down on production costs which would allow them to invest in higher quality castings. Also being adjustable at all four corners will allow you to correct any AFR differences between cylinders caused by inconsistencies in flow through the manifold and heads. Anybody who can pick up on making the adjustability work should be able to get a fair gain in performance.

Proper geometry isn’t achieved with the throttle linkage as the heights vary based on the intake pad height. It’s achieved with an adjustable linkage adapter for the different types and connections.

Exactly right about EFI being the must have. My next door neighbor loves telling me about his EFI and how he won't ever smell like exhaust again. Meanwhile I do some math, found some GT40 heads for $400. Another $500 to swap my 2:78 rear end over to 3:55's. That leaves $300-400 left for mid-eye leaf springs and 620 1" lowering springs if I want to go that route. Yeah I'll pass on the EFI and conservatively say I'll shave 1 whole second off the quarter mile, or a whole hell of a lot faster stoplight to stoplight which is where I really drive.

The taller vent tubes prevents fuel sloshing out during rapid acceleration (drag strip). In the past (old bucks as myself), you connected a fuel line from one tube to the other. A "notch" was cut in the center of the hose for venting. Defeated air-flow though. This effectively " lengthens" the factory by length. The bowls are also effectiant in straight-line launches. Fuel does not "roll -over" the floats. let's not forget about the bent "whistles".

Japanese carbs like Mikuni-Solex and Hitachi have had air bleed jets to fine tune the circuit they control since the 60's. From lawn mowers, single cylinder utility engines, air cooled Wisconsin engines, motorcycles and vehicles like my buddy's 68 SS Camaro in 71. He paid $2,800 with 58k miles on it, one owner. But, he wanted to race it on the local 1/8th tracks. I had a 68 Charger stock 318 but enjoyed more room. Pulled two engines, installed one, got $250 cash plus the car. I will say this carb has everything I would need to adjust rich or lean issues at any RPM. Nice! ASE Master 78.

Different application. Think of this primarily as a race carburetor. That’s where it will make it’s money when paired up with a good data logger to see the whole rpm range and decisions can be made on where more or less fuel is needed. Some issues. Air filters barley fit with the Holley float level adjusters. now the bowls are bigger and the carb longer so your current air filter won’t fit. And it’s taller. So I barely fit under the stock hood with one intake, the other intake doesn’t clear at all. Also when is $780-$850 cheap for anything? Quality looks like it’s there. Some good upgrades. But when you can get a swap meet Holley and $100 trick kit and it works as designed, it’s hard to beat a $200 carb.

To dismiss this innovation is ignoring the hard work of your fellow Americans to bring another option to the table, in this day and age with everything happening in the world that takes ball's and faith that you can make a better product than the other guy, an really isn't that what America was founded on , the spirit of competition. This is coming from an Australian who loves America . It would not be possible to a new carburettor built and designed in my country let alone anywhere else on the planet! I would be proud to say that came out of my country! Please don't knock down the work of your fellow countrymen,be proud and grateful that people still have the passion to innovate.

Well I tell ya. For the money and for the quality that carburetor is the cat's meow and my understanding about carburetors and the recommendations from the manufacturers has always been to install the carburetor right out of the box and don't tinker with it as it is adjusted from the factory. I have found this to be true on most carburetors and this carburetor is no exception. Of course as the carburetor enters the market and different people start fiddling with it there will be a lot of modifications but the features you show should cover the market for us folks who just want a good performance carburetor and of course all of the Holley shortcomings are addressed with this carburetor. The only thing that I would adjust on a new or rebuilt carburetor is the idle speed and I found that to be satisfactory for us common folks.

Just because a carburetor might run right out of the box, doesn’t mean it’s RIGHT. In close to 40 years of tuning, I’ve never ran into a single carb that didn’t drive or perform better without any adjustment.

Come one Man. They did it, because they listened to costumers and engineers. Great stuff. I am getting the 650 because of the down leg boosters. Cheers. Logo good, as in red.

I’m impressed! When I was kid a did tuning experiments with making 1/2 plastic spacers that fit between the carb body and baseplates on the ole holley dp’s. Always ran into lean out problems. The old carbs just couldn’t flow enough fuel for anything I built. I’m gonna consider buyin g one of these!

I just got a 750 and it was definitely not set up at the factory to bolt on. The floats were way high and it shot fuel out the vent tubes with 4psi of fuel pressure. So, not for a guy that wants bolt on. That being said, it is an awesome carb! Very nice and the quality is excellent.

What would ever make anyone think there are no adjustments to be made and a carburetor is ready to go “right out of the box”?
@randr10 Жыл бұрын
Something I notice looking at that "mustache" feature is that where it dips down corresponds with the notches in the middle of the float so that the fuel misses the float as it's coming into the bowl and that only fuel filling the bottom of the bowl will interact with the float and the fuel will only shut off when it's full as opposed to other things causing it to surge up and close. They did a lot of thinking on that bowl and float design, and not just the 45's at the corners of the float.

I think that's a fantastic carb. I'm impressed they put this much thought and resources into it when so many are efi focused. 👏

@@MuscleCarSolutions my current issue is I have a street fox mustang that is stroked Windsor with standalone and it will stay that way. I have a v6 new edge mustang that I want to drag only. I have an LS in which I'd efi or a bbf460 which I'd prob carb because I love old school and carbs. I ran them a good many years and get very tickled when people my age(43) or younger are scared of them. Haha Sadly it's about the same money starting from scratch. I guess it just boils down to preference unless you are carb established on your build.

A true work of art & technology, What a beauty! I gotta have one. Edelbrock has always been known to build quality parts, looks like they've done it again. As far as the logo, The whole top end of my engine is Edelbrock, So flying the company brand name doesn't bother me a bit. Perhaps choose either the side, or the front. Branding both locations is a bit much.

Question: Since it has no choke, how is it at cold starts in the winter weather at 20 degrees??

That ends that. I had high hopes for that VR1 650. Especially since I saw that guy with the slant six throw it on out the box and it fired right up. He said it was cold outside, but it didn't look cold! So, I have another question then. I'm currently running an Edelbrock AVS2 650 electric choke. Infact I've been running Edelbrock carbs for some years, but I'm no expert like you are. I used to run the 1406s all the time. Yes, I can and have rebuilt a couple. But I don't do any special modifying. I just set the air mixture screws, fast idle and regular idle to my liking. I have a stock 350 rocket engine. The question is.....sometimes when it's cold out, my electric choke sticks when it closes at cold start up. Could I spray some WD40 on the linkage to keep it loose? or what should I do?@@MuscleCarSolutions

just a tip, if you're measuring liquids (float bowl) and want to compare them, you could always weigh it. a lot more accurate and often simpler

@@MuscleCarSolutions I build custom Q-jets for high performance street and race, the more adjustable it is the better for me, for the guys that don’t know how to tune or are beginners I’m sure that these will be fairly close out of the box for most typical Chevy applications

@@DSRE535 I’m a huge fan of Qjets. It’s what I started on long ago. But it sure does take an expert to want to take the time to learn it and know how to tune them. Once dialed in though….great carburetors!

Wow. Now I can finally put an Edelbrock on my 327 clone engine. That two-part Holly is a real pain. Every spring my dad would rebuild it for me. Yes I meant enough to admit that I don't know everything and carburetors along with electrical wiring cars or at my top of the I don't give a blank to blank list. For years my Dad tried to get me to go to elderbrock on that engine. I wouldn't do it because I want it when you pop the hood for it to look correct. Now I'm Edelbrock guy I've got one on my 68 CST that's bone stock except for the carburetor. Back in

Still got the Malibu in the shop for the SB swap over, however since there will be more time before this 4150 comes out I got's plenty of time to save for it. The 650 I think will be the best for the SB 305. With CAT delete that will put me well over 200 HP, and big ole sh*t eating grin on my face 😎.

I love the drains in the float bowels. That would be the number one feature for me alone.... Nothing worse than dumping gas all over a hot manifold to make a jet change. I'm not a fan of the one piece body and base, one less gasket I guess but I like the idea breaking the entire unit down during a rebuild. Cost is comparable to Holley but nothing to write home about. I probably won't live long enough to use all the Holley carbs and parts in my inventory to justify switching brands. If someone hands me one, I'll certainly give it a whirl.
@americanbigfoot78812 жыл бұрын
Came from UTG to watch this, I’ve owned both Holley and Edelbrock. Both iconic brands but I have yet to meet a single person who has reliability out of their Sniper EFI, even had shops say they’re junk. I’ve always liked Edelbrock better and that will continue as it seems Edelbrock continues to focus on carbs and Holley is apparently more focused on their EFI mess. Side note: I like the red stickers! Adds some nice flare under the hood and if you don’t like them atleast you can remove them and still have the casted branding.
