I'm an amteur photographer who has never made a dime selling photos, as if I would even try to sell them. I do it for fun, pleasure, sharing something beautiful with others. In my experience people are most beautiful when they're unaware that they're having their picture taken. People are JUST naturally beautiful the way they are. When I tell anyone to "smile" or "pose", they get uncomfortable and think about how they look to others. They make a funny face, trying to meet the photogenic requirements they think are expected. When a person smiles, it's natural, and smiles are contagious. When you tell someone to smile, like a command, the smile appears forced, strange, unnatural. That's why most experienced photographers try to trick you into smiling by telling a joke or teasing you. You can't help but crack a smile, and that's when they snap the shot. People are beautiful. It's all about capturing that beauty in a single moment.

Yeah I found that people unaware they're being photographed turn out the most photogenic. I find getting about halfway up the tree is the best height to get the correct angle into bedroom/bathroom windows. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to own a camera anymore. court orders suck
