Not only, he doesn't fake knowing what he doesn't. It doesn't faze him, he comes across as someone who is themselves for the most part, genuine. Instead of some guys who try too hard, and you hear from the way they deliver that it was something they studied specifically to be able to cite. He had a bullet point list of topics, but they were all optional, and none had memorized speeches attached to them. At least, that's how it seems to me.

I don't know anything about Reuss, but as long as GM is being run by MBA clowns like Mary Barra, the company is doomed. He could be the greatest thing since sliced bread, producing an outstanding vehicle like the ZR1, but at the end of the day the entire Corvette line is a vanity project. GM (and every other large car maker) will live or die based on how well its mass produced vehicles do, and on whether or not it can successfully make the transition to EVs over the next 3-7 years. I predict that GM will be bankrupt within 6-10 years, and will be relegated to selling GM badged cars made by others. No doubt Barra & Reuss will get gigantic golden parachutes as they walk out the doors and turn off the lights.

Yes, for all his creativity", Jay does reuse a lot of standard "stock phrases" in his videos. It can be "charming" when viewed a couple times a week. Hearing the same or similar things repeated in *50 videos* can also become grating or annoying. I started my journey into Jay Leno's car videos over 6 years ago, with a smaller "binge watch" of about 30 videos over two weeks - I can understand what you experienced, a bit. It is worth it for me just for the Duesenberg, Packard, (sometimes Ferrari or Lamborghini coverage), and pre and post WWI cars... but that is my jam.

Great video Jay. Mark seems like a genuine, down to earth car guy too. The story about Bill Mitchell was hilarious. I'm 62 years old, and I've loved Corvettes since I was about 6 years old... Our neighbor had a white with red interior C2, and every day he would let me come over and sit in the car. I got my first Corvette when I was 17, and I was involved in SCCA GT-1 road racing when I was 18, in a 63 split window coupe... There were several years where the Corvettes were very disappointing, but they have come back in ways that none of us could have ever imagined. The new cars are incredible, but as amazing as they are, I will still always love the C2's the most because that is what I grew up with, and because they have so much character. The new cars just don't have the character, but they certainly do everything else incredibly well...

Having read some of the negative comments, I for one, am pleased Jay’s Garage made this episode. The Vette is a legend, as is Jay, so it’s only right his show should premier the car. I personally, would have liked more details on the engine. I had to check ‘Car and Driver’ to learn this engine is an LT7 and that there are more than just two turbos on it compared to the ZO6’s LT6. I presume it is RWD and not AWD. But, confirmation would have been nice. Did they consider AWD? Probably not as it is a ZR1, but then again maybe…… As a Brit, we love USA’s V8’s Still my favourite Vette is the C5. That shape with the enclosed headlights cuts it for me. It was the second Vette I travelled in (as a passenger), the first was a C3.

Though I am a big fan of JLG, I almost never watch these introduction vids as I consider them simply free ads for whoever's introducing a new model and of course the marketingspeak rules everything. But I've watched the Reuss family since they came into positions of being able to make things happen, and could not have more respect. Other than the salaries, they are just like us. They know every piece of a car, how it works, what it does,and how to maximize it. They are true performance enthusiasts and it shows in what they produce. I bought a Grand National in 1987 and considering the time it was made and its competition, it was simply stunning. The enthusiasm and insistence on excellence made me have hope once again. In fact, I sold a legendary 70s musclecar in order to buy it. It was faster, more comfortable, got better mileage, and had A//C. So when Lloyd's son is talking about his newest project, I listen.

Jay Leno "Glad you're able to keep it affordable". Car & Driver "The price of the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is expected to start around $180,000 and go up to $205,000 depending on the trim and options." Maybe that's chump change to Mr. Leno but not to me!
@cmfall19863 ай бұрын
It’s definitely not affordable by average standards. But when you consider it’s a 1000hp car- it’s a darn good deal. 20 years ago you had to spend over $1M to get that.
@knightwing43 ай бұрын
That is funny. Being honest though, that’s a good price for the performance. Theres no other sports car in the world for that price with that level of performance. Most car, not including the the Demon 170, the these power and performance number cost $1 million or more. Think about t5he Bugatti.

This engine is likely the peak of internal combustion technology. No other manufacturer would invest this much in “old tech”. Way to go GM. Didn’t let the ROI scare you away!

Are you kidding? The base of that engine is a copy of the 458 engine. You really think this surpasses what is in the SF90, or the current V12 in the 12 Cili? Yeah, good luck with that.

@@AB-80X Are you talking to me? I don't understand your response- my point is everything evolves. To say we will never see a car break 1000bhp in a Corvette/Super- Sports car is speculation that isn't nessrily true barriers are always broken in engineering.

@@Future-Classic-Cars My response was to you stating the following: "This engine is likely the peak of internal combustion technology.
