If you want to hear more of it (and I bet you do), you need to see this link here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYjGgnSQjLZ_pJY That car IS an original Alfa Romeo 8C Monza, being tested on a wet track. @@Patrick_B687-3 Mind you, the car in the link IS an original Alfa Romeo Monza, built circa 1932, given an enlarged engine in 1933 (The car Jay Leno drove had a 2300cc engine, the car on my link had 2600cc), and it had a very good race record, driven by the best drivers of the day, and there it is, driven in the wet. And best of all, the owner of the car in the link I posted likes to drive that car on the road. In fact, in 2012 the owner did a remarkable feat in that priceless car. He drove it from Germany (where the owner lives), through Belgium, France, loaded it to the channel train to UK, then once in the UK, drove it to a race track where he entered it in a historic race meeting, raced it there, WON the race, and once the race meeting is finished, drove it back home again!

@@mick0846 You might have your grievances with that particular car, but that might well depend on whether proper service and maintenance was given or not. Regardless, even if what you say is true and you got a defective unit, that doesn't mean all Alfa's are rubbish or that it's something exclusive to that brand. All car manufacturers have problems and defective units as well as good cars. What you commented was indeed false and cliché. It's a popular norm to say Alfa's are unreliable or rust away, based on false perception. Alfa Romeo did have problems in the past, but it learned from it. Go check reliability index of today's cars and see for yourself.

I'm not talking about brand new cars hence why we are watching Jay Lenno's garage. I'm talking in general and about my experience with alfa's and everyone else's their are clichés for a reason, alfa's did rot! and where not built very well throughout a period of time . Fact!... you only have to look at the depreciation values of them. They might be built better than anything on the market today but its going to be a long time before they loose the reputation

I love double clutching too. In college I was a bus driver at Umass. We had some older school buses that we used for local field trips. One could only be double clutch driven. It had nimble handling, better acceleration, better gas mileage, better gearbox, and better engine sound than the brand-new models that came in. I miss it. They got rid of it 'cause it was "outdated". Shame.

This was very cool. I learned recently the my Grandfather, Tore Berg, in Sweden raced cars and the Monza was one of his cars. He was an engineer and raced for the love of it, but never really talked about it to my father. I have been doing research on his car and racing for my Dad's 70th, and this video will be a real treat for him. Not sure if it is sacrilege, but he did modify his with 4 rear back tires for a mountain road race. I believe he won. Thank you! There is a great (expensive) book about the Monza and I saw on posts that there is a pic of my grandfather. I would love to see it,

Even the name, Argentina, is Italian and it means 'made of silver'. Also the spanish spoken in Argentina sounds more Italian than Spanish.

I read somewhere that Bugatti bought two Miller race cars and pretty much copied the engine for his race car. I'm not much on hot rods, but I'd love to have one with a Miller or an Offy in it. What a fantastic sound! I find myself aroused, and that's perfectly fine! If you close your eyes and listen to this car, its not at all hard to imagine your are listening to a Lola or McLaren CanAm car or an old TransAm car, the 8cyl music, the straight cut gears.... Fantastic!

me and my dad enjoy watching jay, partly because he doesn't do stupid crap like smoking the tire for twenty minutes, or doing donuts! we've always built big block mopars. but I've just gotten my first import, a 97 prelude we are working on. i'd like to see a nice tuned fifth gen prelude or s2000. not some piece of crap ricer, but a good quality build.

ihateliberals hondas can be fun. People poop on them for no reason. I had a crx that was swapped with a newer vtec engine and that thing was so much fun in the mountains. It was just so light it felt like a go kart. And it was just begging for more rpm, it would rev all day. Jay has a honda s600 that he loves, but he wont get into the other classic hondas of the 1990s. He'd love the s2000, or even the simplicity of the crx.

I'm sold on it. The price is pretty significant though. Singer money for a car like this just doesn't come out right somehow. Pur Sang replicates everything the factory did; Singer comes up with a lot of their own, bespoke parts, and they still go for about the same money, or even less. As much as I love this Alfa, it would be hard to write the check.

Lucas A Singer specs their cars out. Parts that aren't OEM are built around a preconceived design, which primarily involves retooling racing parts for street car applications.

What a absolutely glorious noise! If I'm not mistaken, this was the same model car that was the last race car driven by Sir Henry 'Tim' Birkin, who was famous for his development of the Supercharged Bentleys. Tim placed third in a GP, reached to the left side to accept his cigarette case, and badly burned his arm on the exposed exhaust pipe which was covered in lead residue from the racing fuel. Several weeks later the blood infection killed him.

That sound is a supercharger whine. Had a motorcycle with a supercharger, nothing like it in the world. Many moderns have superchargers, but you are insulated from the mechanicals. On a bike, and in this Monza open cockpit you get the full effect. Never heard of this company, nor the replicas. Jay is right! A bargain at any price..... O. And second, this is a replica of a race car? With lights and mirrors? I know they are easily removed, but point of history: Did they race with them like that? (rules) or did they race them and also flog them for sale to the public? 1932, who knows? Third, I"ve been clicking on JL garage for 10 years..... never caught this one. Fantastic video!!
