Indeed they are. Innovation, power, styling. No other country was doing what America was doing in the 60s and 70s with the car industry. What happened with Group B rally racing in the 80s is comparable in a way but nowhere near as iconic in my opinion.

During that time car manufacturers in America were building these muscle cars for two things. Quarter mile drag racing and NASCAR racing. It's where the term "win on Sunday and sell on Monday" came from. Some truly beautiful cars came from this... my favorite just happens to be the Charger :D

Greg Esch As much as this point about corporations being a pain in the butt is repeated ad nauseum, US corporations obviously have the most positive impact of any corporations in the world. We are for example currently watching a video on KZbin (US corporation) about a Dodge (US corporation) hosted on Jay Leno’s Garage (US show) on our probably Apple or Microsoft devices (US corporations). So there’s a certain loss of perspective when we’re complaining about “teh currpurrations!!1!”.

Such a iconic muscle car transformed into a real work of art !!!! I've got nothing but HUGE respect for Jay Leno and everything he has done for car enthusiasts and his passion for all forms of motorsports !!! Jay is so important to the culture of cars, he has done so much to bring it to our attention and shared more of his own knowledge then the next top ten collectors behind him. What he's done and how he has done it is just outstanding. There's never going to be another person who has willingly spent so much of their own $$$, and given it all happily back just for the automotive passion of car enthusiasts like him !! You'll never hear of Jay not paying a fair price , or cutting corners on a build of any kind, EVER !! One of my favorite stories is of a widow with a 275 alloy bodied Ferrari , if I recall she was asking $350k which she thought was ridiculous money. But he got her nearly 4 million and just to have her bake him some cookies ! That speaks volumes of his character and doing what's best for others !! I would be incredibly honored just to meet him someday, just so I could tell him how much I appreciate everything he has done for the automotive world and preserving it to perfection !! God bless him ,🇺🇸 &🏎🏍 keep all forms of MOTORSPORTS ALIVE for many many more years to come !!!

In 1995 I bought my first car. I was 15 and I had saved up $2,500, I had been working since my 7th grade summer, doing odd jobs around the neighborhood until I was finally able to work legally. I purchased a 289, 1967 Ford Mustang Burgundy metallic exterior with parchment interior. It was beautiful and required little work. I sold in 1997 for $5,000 so I could purchase my dream car, a 1969 Dodge Charger 383 Magnum. The Charger ran but it needed a lot of work, I spent months restoring it, replacing the interior and exterior all together while doing some minor engine work. It had a Teal metallic exterior with a black vinyl top and white leather interior with black compliments. It was beautiful, and my biggest regret was having to sell it when I left for college. It was my dream car and now, replacing it would cost well beyond anything I could afford. It's sad. I sold it for just $7,500.00, and sure enough it was a dealer who bought it, towed it away on a flat bed truck. One of the saddest moments of my life, at that point.

Thanks everyone.. All good thoughts. I was just airing my frustrations. I had made those purchases and completed those restorations back when classic cars were still very much affordable. Selling a '69 383 Magnum Charger in incredible condition for a measly $7,500.00 hurts. If I could've stored the vehicle while I was away at College, even for just a few years, I would have been able to sell it after the classic car boom here in the states. But, honestly, if I could've stored it, I would have kept it b/c it really was my dream car.

The wheels are an aquired taste. Older cars were designed with smaller wheels, sometimes when they are shod with larger than 18" they begin to look a bit toylike. My 1st car was a 1968 Charger and this car looks great, but, the wheels are too big for me, I have seen some with 17' or even 18" on the back and that's as big as I would go.
@KingFLA

SuperExcedrin I hear ya. But that's the whole point of giving an ole school car a taste of modern mods. It's a old car with newer technology and newer look. Some people will restore a car and have it looking the same as it did from factory while others would prefer to modernize it. That's the beauty about cars. You can do whatever you want to your vehicle. Even it it means you're the only one the likes it lol.

@@wallygator8555 I can tell you that AC/DC was launched by a local label (Albert's) and became popular here in Oz before overseas. The video for Long Way to the Top was filmed on a flat bed truck driving through Melbourne. Dire Straits were huge all over the world, definitely broke through in the UK first as did Def Leppard. How about that British band The Beatles, I heard people in the US started to make music like them back in the day. Everyone is inspired by the music of everyone else and the world would be poorer otherwise, and you don't have to be from any certain country to play great music.

A lot of people in the comment section don't seem to know the definition of customization. If you think this car should look the way YOU would like it to look then by all means find one and put your money and labor where your mouth is. Otherwise stfu and enjoy the video. If it's not your cup of tea why bother to stick around just to comment what YOU don't like about it?
