Hi Jay, I'm one of the other 29 owners of that exact guitar. I've decided to take your advise and purchase a Mastery bridge. After installing the bridge myself with the stock fender thimbles I noticed that I couldn't keep the saddles from moving forward and back while using the bigsby. I originally thought that the bridge was defective and had Mastery send me another but still have the same problem. I've also tried 10 gauge and 12 gauge strings, along with tunning way low or high to change tension but still have moving saddles. I dropped my guitar off to a luthier today to install Mastery thimbles. I also asked him about the saddles moving and he thought that the bridge may not be designed to work with a bigsby or maybe the saddles were supposed to move. He then said he may try shimming the neck to resolve the issue and he would have to think more about the problem. Did you experience moving saddles while using the bigsby, if so how did you solve? Did you need to shim your neck to work with the Mastery? Thanks a lot... I'm a big fan of your playing by the way!

Hey!!!! Great to see another one of us out in the wild: hopefully yours is in better shape than mine, haha. Hmm, my guess is the problem may be your saddle height. Those bridges work the best when they are set low and the saddles are set high. I lowered the mastery bridge plate almost to the point where they are touching the guitar. Then, I raised the saddles high to get the action I want. My guitar does not have a shim and my saddles don't move. Hopefully that helps! Also, I spent a few years with Tone Specific to design a set of pickups to match that guitar perfectly and those are the pups I am using now. If you are feeling an itch, get them to wind you a set 👍

Thanks Jay, this information definitely helps. I still haven’t gotten the guitar back from the luthier and it’s still in line for getting the Mastery thimbles installed. It’s good to know I shouldn’t need a shim because I really don’t want one unless completely necessary. I’ll try changing the bridge and saddle height as you described also when I get it back. I was completely happy with the stock pickups until I noticed this video and was second guessing them. Now that you’re telling me that you spent years getting the perfect pickup made for it I think I have no choice but to put them in there if Tone Specific can make some for me. It’s just a matter of time raising cash. Thanks so much for replying and for making this video!!!! I benefited for sure!!!

@@justinduncan866 I had the same problem w the Mastery on a Mustang + w the the stock thimbles it definitely would have caused intonation problems. I got the Mastery thimbles which are supposed to be 'almost an airtight fit' but still had saddle movement of a few .001th's of an inch. Was considering sending back the bridge w the thimbles + asking if I could pay more to get a zero clearance fit. I finally decided to just insert the bridge post into the thimbles w some foil on just 1/3 of the circumference (all the way around would be too tight). It is very solid now. + can still be adjusted or pulled out w out any problem.

my lake placid blue fender Stratocaster mim 2013. it was 2014 and it was my 13th birthday i wanted a fender strat in blue like George Harrison from the Beatles. was went to my local guitar store and I played that guitar and loved it a week later my mom, dad, pap, and gram bought it for me. my gram died this year (2020) and it is one of my favorite memories and I love to play it in her memory. I also started writing my own songs on it. it is the beginning of my musical journey and i will never party with it.

That wear is awesome. Shows how good a job the custom shop did of getting close to the original finish, a lot of the USA or Mexican nitro guitars take forever to wear and still have a poly undercoat.

I have 3 most cherished guitars out of the 11 I own... my 1999 PRS Custom 22, because it's the first guitar that just felt "right" when I first picked it up, my 1977 Greco Strat copy from Japan, because it's the nicest sounding guitar I've ever played and elicits licks I've never thought of before, and finally my Oswald custom build Tele, which is just the perfect guitar for me; built exactly to all my specs. Great video!! Thanks for sharing.

Hi, I love your playing! My first "perfect me" instrument was a used Squire Jazz Bass (was a Japanese one). Looked like crap when I bought it with screwed in leather belt and gunky fret board but it was cheap. And after some days of cleaning, setup and more cleaning it was a great Bass. Unfortunately got stolen many years ago. My actual one is a 72 Hard tail Strat (CBS) that's 'players grade', max. The first owner built in a crappy distortion circuit with a switch in the pick guard :) And the neck pocket is way bigger than the neck itself... But it was gifted to me when I started wanting to play guitar and I did know the first owner and played with him a few songs on family (gold?)-weddings when I was a kid (played drums first). When I got it, the guitar was standing in a gig bag (more like a sleeve) in a corner of a room for approx. 14 years and the strings were dead but it still was nearly in tune! So not all bad with CBS Fenders :) Also much cleaning involved since the previous owner and his wife were heavy smokers. Didn't expect to write that much :)

Beautiful guitar, awesome playing! My biggest annoyance with teles is how close the switch is to the pot, I like how you switched it to a strat style one... that little bit of extra space is probably just enough. I don't know if I have a most cherished guitar because I love them all but if I had to pick one, it's my Yamaha SBG2000. I've written most of my songs on that guitar and it's really versatile so it holds a special place in my heart :-)

My favorite guitar started out as a brand new Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Strat. The first mod I did was put on locking tuners. Then it was new pickups. Then a custom neck from Warmoth. Then a different tremolo and bridge. A new pickguard. Ditched the pre-amp circuit. Over several years, part by part, the guitar slowly transformed into something completely unique and personalized. I think the only original parts are the trem claw and the jack plate.

After all of the guitars I have owned since 99, my most cherished is the American Professional Stratocaster I got in January of 2018. Doesn’t sound very exciting does it? But I always liked strats more than anything else and this one is the best playing and sounding one I have ever played. I just recently caught you in a video with one of the guys from the Pedal Show and enjoyed your thoughts on why the tele is the best guitar. I have never owned one and am seriously considering it. Your playing by the way is phenomenal! Your humbleness and enthusiasm is also impressive. Keith Richards has said that guitar playing is a marriage between the right hand and left hand. Many players focus on the left hand fretting, bending, and flying up and down the neck. The right hand is just as important if not more so. Your right hand technique is just fantastic and I love the variations in strumming patterns. Cool guitar, great video, i look forward to more. Thanks for sharing!!

Really great guitar, and it definitely is yours! I like the mod’s, and I’ve watched the enhanced reilc’ing over the years. 😉 My favorite axe is a parts caster Teledeluxe that has been tweeted a bunch over the 15+ years that I’ve had it. It’s the lightest guitar body I have ever picked up...don’t know the wood, but it’s supposed to be Swamp Ash? Bigsby with a roller Tune-o-matic, Lindy Fralin p-92’s, shimmed ( to adjust for the Tune-o-Matic) Wenge Warmoth neck with SS6150 frets, master volume with tone bleed, and master tone. I have gigged with it, and swapped out a bunch of the parts over the years. It’s always been difficult to set up, due to its Frankenstein nature, but it’s comfortable and sounds great! I don’t know, I have had many other guitars over this same period of time, but I never sell this one? Your blue guitar set up inspired me to move to the master volume/tone setup. Your videos inspired me in so many ways...from getting down with Fuzz, to push button playing. You are a great player, very generous and explain all the many interesting subjects that you cover. Always blows my mind that your channel isn’t 10x the size? Stay safe, and keep’m coming!

You are on your way to being a good guitarist already. The first thing one must learn is ones skill ability, if you can say “Iam not the best, or I am not good yet” means you know it takes work and your not out there trying to be the next Eddy Van right off the hop. You know you need work as a beginner and as long as you keep knowing this you will always aspire to try and put effort into your art. Take time and always know you can do it, I had no training or ability at music and I’ve taught myself guitar, bass, drums, harmonica, vocals, keyboards and recording all myself, it started with guitar then I was in a band Silent Mistress and they got me playing bass then from there I just kept learning whatever I could. So anyone, if they have the passion, can learn music as long as they keep a strong will to do so. Music will change your life and give you an identity as well as a way to express yourself. I hope you keep at it and never give up, music is a wonderful gift and it will bring you much joy. Cheers and stay playing I know you can do it.

Love the idea of a Bigsby on a Telecaster (or a Les Paul style guitar), but one of my favourite things about my Tele is the rock solid stability, and I'd be mortified to lose that. Too bad I'm not ostentatious enough to own two Teles just so I could have a Bigsby on one of them haha.

Hey there... I'm a medium jumbo guy too. I'm about to trick out a Squire that picked up a little while back. I'm interested in that wiring set up, I'll have to look it up. Cool stuff. I about fell out the chair when I looked up those Virgil Arlo's.. Haha... I decide to try the new La Brea set from Seymour Duncan. Thanks Jay

Have all the “traditionals” (Strat, Tele, LPs and 335), and some other stuff (gretsch 6120, superstrats, and whatnot)... but the one that keeps me saying “f$ck” currently is a blonde tele that I have tweaked with some Vanson pickups. All 3 positions sound amazing. Oh, and a P90 goldtop LP with wilkinsons. Oh and a.... ok, screw it. I just like guitars, period.

My most cherished guitar is my 1958 Gibson Les Paul Jr. Single cutaway, single P-90 all original except for the strings. I have the original hang tag with a price of $120. It's heavy, has a wonderful warm tone and it's an early 58, single cutaway. I've had it since the early 70s and hopefully never part with it.

I have a couple cherished guitars, and some got away. The two I have, one is a 2012 Fender Antigua FSR Tele, and the other is a 2012 Gibson Les Paul 70s Tribute with the Mini Humbuckers. I nicknamed Ann, which my gf (now my wife) coincidentally has the same middle name. One I miss having an Epiphone Koa Les Paul Custom. Played like butter, had to sell it because my dog needed emergency surgery, that along with many amps and pedals had to be sold to help pay (rest on credit card, interest still killing me) BUT, we do what we can for our friends and family (including the furry ones)

So cool how similar the wear is to your original. Before you mentioned it I would've thought you sent your original for fender to copy
