The Boston Celtics just barely came out with a win Sunday Night in Game 1 of the first playoff round. It was neck-and-neck until Jayson Tatum delivered a buzzer beater layup to clinch the win over Kyrie Irving's Brooklyn Nets. But Chris Broussard says the Nets shouldn't be worried. With Kevin Durant not playing his best, Broussard explains why Nets fans should be encouraged by the close loss.

I love Broussard, he has been an excellent addition to this show and much better than Brandon Marshall. But that push-off take was the worst take I’ve seen him have on this show. Absolutely terrible. Then he doesn’t even address the final play where KD is just standing around. So essentially he argues there’s a push-off on Browns layup, agrees the Nets final possession was bad, and doesn’t address the last Celtics play. This one goes to Nick easily. He really didn’t even have an argument.

Dumb take. The celtics made it their mission to suffocate KD. It was a conscious decision. They realize KD and Kyrie are gonna do their thing, so they threw everything at KD (defensively) who is a better scorer than Kyrie, and they decided to just live with the 40 pts Kyrie is going to give them. That's why the celtics will win the series. KD and Kyrie can't both go off at the same time.

I don’t think Broussard realized that the reason KD struggled so bad was because the Celtics are focused on slowing one of them down, not stopping both of them and KD was smothered all game. Nets don’t have enough firepower to make up for a lack of production from KD or Kyrie so limiting one of them and causing headaches for one of them is more than enough to win the series.

KD might not play this bad next game, Kyrie might not play this good 4 straight…. As a Celtics fans I feel great. Dragic, Seth and Brown won’t have a better game than this. Boston came back from a week layoff and shakes off their rust with a great performance. Celtics just getting warmed up… Also Chris is wrong, Hordford can maintain this hot play. Smart can still effect the game without his 20 points. KD missed some shots, we can say the same about Celtics defense giving Nets easy layup, they’ll clean that up next game.

Expect the Celtics as a team to shoot better from the field and from 3 the same way you’re expecting KD to shoot better. Those who actually watched the game know that the C’s had a lot of open looks not go in as well as not being able to finish at the rim at certain times. Not the case with KD as he was getting swarmed by the defense. Broussards argument doesn’t hold up.

That's so true way to many open shots. That's called floor spacing. Patty, Goran and seth. Floor spacing. Bruce and klax not so much. That's why kyrie was doubled and no one to pass it to. 1 guy guarded clax and Bruce. Terrible floor spacing. On the other end doubles lead to wide open threes.

He’s right, the Celtics are terrible at the half court sets, if KD or Kyrie was sorta in the way of the pass it could’ve been a different result.

I don’t know why Chris acted like what Nick said is crazy. This could very well be his best game in the series. If he has another, then good for him but he’s literally never scored 39+ points twice in a series.

The nets supporting cast and the bench scored more points than they are capable of. How can you say al and Marcus can't keep scoring 20 but what about the nets supporting cast? Bruce and the bench won't play like they did all series. Stop throwing shade on Marcus and Al.

They lost the game!!! The Celtics should be talked about because Kyrie won’t do in game 2 what he did in game one. He is a super up and down player and KD will play better. We are the better team talk about that.

Why are they not mentioning the fact that Boston clearly wasn’t playing their best either? They were missing point blank layups and free throws despite being the 2nd best free throw shooting team in the league this season. Not to mention the fact that jaylen brown didn’t have a great game either
@DuckFanDane
@DuckFanDane 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah Broussard is wrong about this. It’s not likely that Kyrie plays that well so it’s going to even out that’s what they’re going to get may be a few more assists for the rest of the series and not as many steals. Also we aren’t taking into account the fact that the Celtics are likely getting their center back next game or the game after this is without their center the next chance to take a vantage of the Celtics is now but they’re not capitalizing on it. Yes Kyrie and Kevin Durant are very experienced in the big moment but neither of them have had a huge moment where they came through in the clutch in a long time and the Celtics are not young whippersnappers either they have a lot of experience on that team in the playoffs so the point is invalid because arguably the Celtics have more experience in the playoffs throughout the roster than the nets
