Here we are 4 years later and this is STILL the best video on the RX100vii. There should be a link in the paperwork that comes with the camera for your Sony videos so everyone that buys this camera can see the best video on how to use their camera. Great stuff Jason!!!

How can I make it better? I use this for mountaineering, hiking, and camping. Many pictures with bright light / light beaming from behind.
@Jason_Hermann2 жыл бұрын
Not much you can do for backlit subjects other than switch to manual focus if the camera won't lock where you want it. You can try changing the angle a bit to focus then once the focus is locked, re position camera and take the shot. That might help, but it's really hard for any camera to focus in such situations.

@Jason_Hermann3 жыл бұрын
I see what you mean, but I am not sure how do bring up that description you are referring to. Have you tried pressing the garbage can icon? That will give you more info when on a giving setting in the menu, that might work. Also, if you press the function menu, you can navigate to the scene mode icon and see if that gives you more info when changing.
@Gwalothion3 жыл бұрын
It's a bit late, but maybe someone else stumbles upon this issue as well: I think the previews are linked to the "Mode Dial Guide"-Setting. Turning this option ON in the "Setup"-category in the menu will enable a description of every camera mode, measuring mode and scene settings. Quite helpful if you are just starting working with the camera!

What mode/settings do I use to get a clear shot of my pet but with all the background blurred?
@Jason_Hermann3 жыл бұрын
For the most blurry background possible I would zoom the lens to 200mm and get far enough away from the pet so it fills the frame most of the way. Also, make sure you have the background as far as possible from the pet as well for the best results.

Yes, sorry I forgot to explain that feature. It's in the drive modes area and you just select it there to enable it. scroll down on the left once in the drive modes area to find it. The burst of photos once taken will be put into a group when viewing in playback mode on the camera. Keep in mind the light must be very good in order to get a large burst of photos in such a short period of time. The shutter speeds required are going to be very fast!

Hello, are you talking about playing the video back on the camera? The camera does have a small built in speaker, and you can turn the volume up, but it's really not that loud. Have your tried plugging it a TV with a Micro HDMI to HDMI Cable like this one: amzn.to/3586enc

Very nice tutorial. Do you mind recommending what settings to use to film a soccer game, please? I'm concern about autofocus, and area to focus that will jump randomly from one player to another (not wating this)? Also if I want 60fps and 1/125 shutter speed, is this a good idea to use?
@Jason_Hermann3 жыл бұрын
Hello, the camera is by default going to focus on peoples faces. You can turn that off in the camera under the face / eye af selections. As far as shutter speed goes do you mean for video? For photos that is not fast enough to freeze the action with soccer. I would recommend at least 1/400sec
