Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, and the NightDive remaster of the classic games have brought so many new people into the fandom. The modding scene for the classic games is absolutely gargantuan, and there's new stuff coming out all the time, not to mention all the new 'Doomtubers' that have sprung up in the last few years. I've been a part of the Doom community since at least 2005 when my only way to play it was on our crappy family computer, and seeing how much it's grown over the last 20 years is incredible. ⁠@@michaelespinoza2150 Even GoW(2018/Ragnarok) are fairly slow at times(Btw it doesn’t mean that it’s bad). You have to immerse yourself in the story and then you switch to battle mode, in which you are a little more tactical and more careful as your health comes sparingly and the only other way to heal is rage. Like you have to know when to step back and assess the situation like your health enemy health and etc. In Doom if you are slow then you are dead. You have to glory kill enemies because that’s the only reliable source of health. A lot of tactical decisions, like where to go next who to kill first, are made in a split second. It too can be slower at times but you are still on the edge of your seat. That means it is more exhausting but if you can handle it is super fun. In GoW there is more room to breathe so it is less likely for you to get exhausted of the action. So to sum it all up GoW is slower than Doom and it doesn’t mean that it isn’t fast. So yeah idk why I wrote all that.

I’m happy it’s coming to PlayStation. I was born in 82, i played doom on MS DOS via shareware before buying the full game and I’ve owned every doom game and most ID software games since, just like mortal kombat. I’ve been very loyal to the franchises that made me a gamer at the arcade or my dad’s PC repair shop. I can’t afford to manage two systems and I’ve been so invested in the Sony ecosystem not because of exclusives or anything like that. Honestly it’s because I still have my PS1 from when I was a teenager lol, I just like Sony and I’ve been having a blast with VR. The console war is kinda silly anyway when Microsoft has said themselves they want out of hardware, and just want to be software only.

I do wanna point out 2 things. 1. Id software isn’t making the same game twice, hence why it’s so completely different compared to eternal. 2. Doom being multiplatform is actually 100% id software’s decision. They are not a fan of exclusivity and actually wanna get more players to enjoy the doom franchise. Remember DOOM 64 being nintendo 64 exclusive? Now it’s available everywhere. This jaytechTV can keep crying about it all he wants. because it’s not universal. Many game genres rely on there being some kind of story and lore. That statement was made when the gaming market was a very different thing and gameplay alone was enough for practically every game. But now that the market has evolved story has become far more important than it was back when that quote was made. Back then you made a game and then slapped the story on the back of the box. Nowadays story and gameplay are built around each other during the entire process. There are still games out there that don’t need story or lore, but they have become the exception, not the rule.

To me, exclusives don't make sense anymore. When you look at what it costs to make a AAA game these days and market saturation for each respective console, it's clear that it makes sense to cast the widest net possible. It's no wonder that both XBOX and PS5 exclusives inevitably get pc ports.
