@@akudapapua Yeah, despite the large advantage Sony has with the strength of it's brand with PlayStation and the mindshare they have with consumers, they're going to have a harder and harder time greenlighting all these super high production value games that cost hundreds of millions of dollars with a closed off console platform. That has of course been their bread and butter. Microsoft has been moving in an open direction since Phil Spencer took over in 2014 due to the failure of the Xbox One, but with how expensive games are becoming, it is getting more and more infeasible to have a host of games exclusive to one platform. Sony has already decided to start releasing some titles on PC, so Sony is already in the process of doing the same thing Microsoft did in 2014. Single console platforms, even the largest one (PlayStation) aren't large enough for these modern super high production value single-player epics. Those kinds of games cost so much more money than the average game in the past. Nintendo has the advantage of their games not costing nearly as much money to make, but Sony and Microsoft fill a different niche. Microsoft is in a good place as they are probably going to design some kind of windows 11 streamlined hybrid Xbox for it's next system that will allow users to access whatever storefront they want (that will bring in millions of steam users), which would be a very difficult thing for Sony to compete with. In the long run I think Microsoft is going to be the company making the high production value games as they will be able to reach the enough users to warrant the massive costs of producing such games.

Why don't people realise that Activision and Bethesda are considered as assets of Microsoft, meaning they retain their value. They don't have to "make their money back". They acquired Activision and Bethesda "cash in hand" meaning they didn't have to borrow money from a bank. Either that cash just sits in a bank collecting interest or they use that cash to gain an asset that is worth the same as the money amount they spent on Activision and Bethesda. Basically, Microsoft swapped $64B in cash and acquired a $65B asset. Books are even. If Microsoft ever needs to borrow money, which won't be any time soon, they can leverage Activision for better rates and 0% interest loans. They can sell Activision as well, most likely for 1.5x the price they acquired it for. They are just making their money work for them by letting whoever wants to play the game buy it.

I buy MORE games due to Game Pass. It frees up money I would have spent on the games in the service and there are awesome discounts. I got the mafia trilogy for like 8 bucks, Jedi Survivor for 10. There is a distinct difference in approaches. Sony wants to squeeze every dollar out of every big game, Microsoft goes for the quantity approach. For a normal dude working his ass off at a 9-5 barely getting by, Microsoft and GP is definitely the best option for me.

If that could happen more often, then games that are great won't be tied to how well a condole goes. One that comes to mind immediately for me - "sunset overdrive." That game came out for the Xbox One. It was great. It also was a flop because that condole was a flop. Get games like that out there for everyone, and they might be played more.

indy literally #2 seller in US last week behind COD. They are super happy when many like me have GPU and then i bought the expansion pass. So boring the myth xbox folk dont buy games 🙄

This is the second Xbox is dead video that MethcastGuy has made this month alone, he must be in arrears with his rent 🤣 Does MethcastGuy not realise that Microsoft has more revenue streams than just Xbox, Game Pass makes more per month than Sony makes in a year, Windows volume licensing makes more per month than Sony makes in a year and Office volume licensing makes more per month than Sony makes in a year. I'm sick of mentioning this all the time but if players have a choice of playing a game via a Game Pass for $15-20 a month or buying it then Game Pass will always win, so of course it sold better on PlayStation as the only option they have is to pay $70 for it.
