My family are originally from Westport circa 1870’s onward and traced the lineage to there. Now living in Belfast and I have to say, I’d love to see Mayo bring Sam home. As much as I love to see Sam coming North I can’t see Antrim winning one for many a year yet, and Tyrone have had recent success in ‘03 ‘05 and ‘08. So I’m in a win win. I don’t believe in the Mayo curse but they’ve been knocking on the door for so long that if any team is due a win, it’s Feckin Mayo. Oh the green and red of Mayo!!!!

I'm from the UK and before Covid hit I always came to Castlebar which is apart of Mayo. I do my studies on the gga team when I can but when I was at my local bar, Mick Byrne's Bar (Say hi to Mick when you are their on your travels lovely bloke) I got educated on County Mayo and their problem on not winning the big one. I feel this curse thing makes sense to me, although others think it's an excuse which I can understand I feel I understood the curse more, makes sense to me but I feel as a Mayo fan from the outside of Ireland that one day. The locals are friendly as they're all saying, the Guinness from Byrnns's bar, being a British citizen it's completely different and alot smoother can't beat it! I do believe in this Mayo curse even though it can be an excuse as I do believe the players need to stop bottling it as I just want Mayo to win the trophy as the locals deserve that for me. UP MAYO!

In my county Tyrone, our neighbors, Dromore GAA were too cursed by a priest way back in the day after he was struck by a club member. The priest promised they would never win a county championship. So the story goes. They did lose in a few finals since then but finally won their first in ‘07, then a couple more. Oh, and by the way, Mayo has Westport.
