Caspatyrus could be Kapisha, in modern day Afghanistan. Pactyic country could mean the country of the Pakthas (modern day Pakhtun). Traveling East from Kapisha and the Pakhtun country following the Kubha (Kabul) river you reach the Indus.

Kapisa or Kamboja or Kabulistan is Paropamisadae in Greek. Arachosia was Zunbil/Zabulistan. Aria was Vahlika/Balkh. Gedrosia was Kalat+Makran. Modern day Pakhtun are mostly two big tribes - Durrani (formerly Abdali) and Ghilji. The Sassanids used the word "Afghan" to refer to Epthalite Huns (they called them Abdals). Ghilji are Khilji turks. Thus majority of Afghans are Epthalite Huns or Khilji Turks. There are other connections of certain tribes with Shakas(who have more direct language connection with Balochs), Kushans and even Greeks. But at best you can stretch their origins to the Achaemenids, since Pashto is an Eastern Iranian language. They have nothing to do with the vedic Pakhtas tribe. But the Pashai and Nuristani tribes are believed to have existed during Vedic times (Nuristani languages themselves do not fall in Indo-Aryan or Iranian group and is its own special category which is probably as old as either of those).

The gold mining ants may not be a complete myth. In the 1920s in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) the Black brothers realised that termites dig their tunnels extremely deeply and deposit the displaced soil on the surface in mounds. Rather than dig time consuming exploratory shafts themselves, the Black brothers realised that if they took samples from the termite mounds they could get them tested by the government assay office for gold. In this way they found several small gold mines north of Kwe Kwe, which they named Termite, Lion, Lioness, Leopard and Leopardess. Three of them were still functioning when I worked for the mining company (MTD) that owned them in 1981-83. Perhaps ant hills or their surface spoil was used in ancient India to search for gold deposits?

@@cristiano2741 there were no sanskrit inscriptions. The Mitannis used Hurrian language from the Hurro-Urartian languages. Aryans migrated from the Androvo culture which was in the vicinity of the Kura-Araxes culture, from where Hurro-Urartian languages originated. In a treaty between Mitannis and Hittites, Mitannis invoked some vedic gods and used some sanskrit terms - "Mitrassil, Arunassil, Indara, Nasattiyanna", "Mitrassil, Uruwanassil, Indar, Nasattiyanna", "assuwanni", "kadinni", "maninni", "maryanni", "mistanni", "usrianni". These are not the exact sanskrit words, but it does seem like Proto-Hurro-Urartian had some influence from Proto-Aryans. Or a branch of Indo-Aryans in some form adopted Hurrian language and established the Mitanni Empire.

There is actually growing consensus on the fact that persians (achaemenids) likely never ruled any parts of Inda directly like having a satrapy . There is really not enough evidence archealogically of achaemenid present east of kabul . Your opinion

I don't think so. I mean we have clear archaeological evidence with all the coin hoards we have found. The only thing weird is that Indian literature never mention Achaemenids although the emperors used to boast about it quite a lot.

Doesn't the "30th month" sailing time also favour the Ganges rather than the Indus? That implies at least two monsoon seasons. From the Indus back is one season. As Alexander found, there was little incentive to dawdle home from the mouth of the Indus. By contrast, there was a lot to delay one and investigate on the way back from the mouth of the Ganges. What does the "Periplus" say about sailing times? Has anyone looked for a "Caspatyrus" equivalent on the upper Ganges tributaries?

Yeah it could be a possibility that he waged a naval expedition in ganga river but i don't think personally that the boundaries of achaemenid empire was stretched beyond indus because we have already know that various Mahajanpadas were there .( which was possibly hard to conquer even for persians ) plus i want to ask a question that if there was a book and even fewer abstracts of that book aren't present today then how could we possibly tell that there was an actual book written by scylax ????

Kayalpattinam is caspatyrus, pandiyan dynasty is pactyic country. Kayalpattinam also mentioned by marco polo and ibn battuta. And the river name is thamiraibarani/porunthal river. Site iron age date back to 3000BC, burial site "adichanalur" yeild 150 skeletons belongs to mongoloid,mediterraean , aboriginal, negroid and dravidian. With heavy sea faring dating 1500BC-700BC. Site usually ignored by ASI due to hindutva politics. In 2019 madurai high court ordered to release excavation report by ASI which they was hiding for 15 years and askes to hand over site to state archeology dept. Its really sad that south/tamil history always ignored by india.
