I got RDR as a gift in 2012 when I was 8 at my dads funeral. A family friend thought the game would cheer me up since I loved westerns. To say the least I got so into RDR I literally know everything…EVERYTHING. I would get bullied at school so much but RDR was my safe place since I also have epilepsy and my seizures were crazy at the time, it was safer for me to sit and play this game than go on a walk outside. This game helped me so much I still go back to play it every month or so :)

Exactly ! And these two games are two of the greatest of all time i know this saying is overused but i really really really mean it, like up there, like we will NEVER ever EVER experience new games created with so much love and care that could match this level during our lifetimes, RDR2 was probably the very last of its kind. The evolution of our now worldwide economic system ( capitalism ) can’ t allow it anymore, the beauty and cynical comedy is that, in this game and the second one, this is part of one of the most important overarching themes !
@thisbubblygoodness76112 жыл бұрын
love this game, i do hope they remake RDR1 with RDR2's mechanics, mainly the duel wielding, clothing and hair growth i think New Austin/Mexico will always be my favourite map out of the two games, there's something about the classic wild west deserts that beats RDR2's more woodland frontier vibe in New Hanover.

I disagree, the game holds up well as it is. Considering RDR2 on console is locked to 30fps just like RDR1 is, there's no point compromising the superior ragdolls and combat mechanics in RDR1 for that in RDR2. RDR1 is a different game, that doesn't need hunting mechanics or things like camp upkeep for you to go around hunting or other. RDR1 does great in all the areas that RDR2 had gone wrong. Now if RDR2 was re-designed to lose the nonsensical combat mechanics, e.g the near useless dive (compared to the RDR1 combat roll), straight shooting, no ridiculous reticle sway and exagerrated reticle bloom... then it'll be viable. Basically RDR2 has a lot to change in itself before it should ever be considered to be a port for RDR1. It couldn't even realistically port hardcore mode from RDR1 because RDR2 just doesn't have the means to have that (because RDR2 is a lacklustre 3rd person combat game, and RDR1 is one of the greatest 3rd person shooters of all time alongside Max Payne 3 etc.) It's not even all that outdated. It's very easy to get used to, simpler even than RDR2. Also, RDR1 multiplayer is massively better than RDO.

One thing I love about RDR2 is the fame-system. Because it provides the ingame-world with some vividness: John Marston was a famous gunslinger in the RDR canon and was probably revered (not to mention the big flush of Dime novels in that era that gloryfied about every murderer of that time). So in conclusion, the fame-system makes the ingame-world feel so much more alive, because it suggests the feeling, that the people have noticed that John arrived, that he is a known quantity and theres much talk behind his back about him. I can only imagine someone sitting in a bar telling his buddy something he heard about John in town everytime I see that you gained fame-points.

I've never been one to achievement hunt, but I do remember two distinct achievements that I earned from this game that made me so proud to get. Not because of the actions taken to get them but that I did them without any knowledge of the achievements existing in the first place. The first was hunting all of the buffalo to extinction and the second was being dastardly and placing a tied up woman on train tracks and watching a train run her over. Again it wasn't the actions taken that made me proud but that I had the idea to play out western tropes for the fun of it and got a little reward for doing so that is the level of awesome this game brought.

I feel old, I used to play this a lot. I think they made Bonnie in RDR2 completely different than she's in the first one

This game was ahead of its time. In 4K it still looks better than some recent games. True masterpiece.

ya they remastered it for one X just before RDR2 was out.. promotional act . looks and plays well now only 30 fps though on series x they should have uncapped the frame rate

@@PapaTanduo it's not even a remaster, just the original game at 4K. It has aged like fine wine considering that.

Everytime I've played through this I've gone off the side exactly you did in the race against Bonnie. I'm convinced it's written in the game

Makes me want to play it too, finished RDR2's epilogue a few weeks ago so it would make for a perfect follow up

I played rdr1 first and glad it was by that order just becauese of the way the story goes. John talks so much about the gang and Dutch that he makes us know them without us laying eyes on them,its great and then seeing them for the first time,is excellent. Especially Dutch,that first impression is just saved in my head forever...roasting John,Abigail while robbing a bank...

The unlockable outfits was one of the best things, with the fine suit outfit you could cheat at poker

I know that feeling. Saw someone recently playing Bad Company for the first time. So I replayed Bad Company 1&2. Love it. Best squad ever.

WHAT? You never played Undead Nightmare (too scared maybe)? That was so cool, such a shame they did nothing with it in RDR2 or GTA.
