I love this song! Another song you will definitely like is Elvis Presley's concert in Hawaii (Aloha in Hawaii video) the name of the song is Glory Glory Hallelujah. He takes that song ito another level! (MUST HEAR) Very Very emotional and moving! I heard a story about back in the day when a married couple took their friends another married couple to go see Elvis in concert they're lady friend actually passed out! So emotional that when I hear that song myself I have tears in my eyes.

Love it that you got to see him so young back-to-back with some of the later stuff. This guy was around for a long time despite his early death. He was an amazing man and one thing a lot of people don't realize is that not only he attracted the best musicians available, he did all of his own arranging. I mean he would pick songs that other people wrote and sometimes they wrote him specifically for him but the whole point is that he would take them and make them his own but he does all the ranging. Or for the most part anyway. He was really gifted that way and not only was a decent guitar player he could play baseball as well and he can play drums and he was a really good piano player.

This was actually the very first video ever produced. I am 64 years old I was only 1 when this came out and here I am 64 years later and still listening to it. This back in 1957 was a no no that is why Elvis became enemies with the establishment that hated him. He was great, he opened the door for every other singer that came up after him. This song was number 1 back in 1957 and believe it or not number 1 again in 2005. Elvis will live forever. I am glad you younger people are taking notice of the man that started it all.

This was 1956, and released a few months later in 1957. I think. The movie "Jail House Rock" would soon follow. Take a guess at who had the lead role...yes, Elvis Pressley.

Not that I'm old......but I saw this at the theatre in 57. It created quite a memory. Especially when combined with Scene B which had THIS 8 year in front of that same event lean up against a parking meter out theater front only to rest my not yet fully formed hand on the biggest wad of expelled nose excrement ever ejected by any human being (or maybe even a BigFoot). Certainly a traumatic event for any adult. But for the kid, ME....I silently delivered it to the nearest younger kid for safekeeping and carried on with the party atmosphere. Thanks for the special day, Elvis!

Elvis had a long and fruitful career and recorded a lot of great songs with all different sounds and feels. It's all good stuff. But if you really want to get a sense for the Elvis Presley that electrified the youth of the world back in the 1950s, you need to listen to some more of his early recordings. "Jailhouse Rock" is a great introduction. Some other great choices would be "Hound Dog", "Blue Suede Shoes", "All Shook Up", and, to slow it down some, "Love Me Tender".

@Jayveetv This was published in 1957 and it was said the parents, including mom's, were outraged at all of the hip action & gyrating Elvis brought to music. I was born in 1961 & I find it funny that my own mom, as well as her mom friends...and the other moms in our block were all swooning & silly google eyed at anything-everything Elvis. One of mom's friends broke into his hotel room and stole his sheets, haha... ...so as a kid in the 60s, I never saw mom's getting upset at my friend's & myself for listening to his music. Instead it was embarrassing how the adult women carried on, like crazy fans. 🤣

This is actually a scene from the movie Jailhouse Rock, which is a different version from the record. I actually always kinda preferred this version with the backing vocals to the album version, which is just Elvis' lead vocal with no backing vocals. Not only was this one of Elvis' biggest hits, but it's also one of the biggest hit records of all time. Jailhouse Rock and King Creole were Elvis' best movies. They were both made before his stint in the Army. Once he came back from the army in 1960, he ended up making a bunch of movies that were basically all the same story with just different settings and character names. He never got another chance to make the kind of strong films he was making in the 50s. It's really too bad because he had the chops to be a great actor as well as singer.
@patricialabbe14164 жыл бұрын
Colonel Tom Parker was to blame for the subsequent crap movies. Was afraid bis appearing in good movies would cook the golden goose from which Parker profited greatly. Also why Elvis never toured outside US. Parker's ctizenship was questionable and he was afraid he wouldn't get back in.

I'm going to search for the my favorites from all different phases of his life for you to watch and react to, starting with Unchained Melody. At the end of his life, he performed "Unchained Melody" in his final concert when he was extremely sick and looked awful... but his voice was even better than ever! And his range was AMAZING. Find that concert video... don't be put off by his looks at that point. His voice just kept getting better as he aged.

I've only seen bits & pieces of his movies. They were all kinda silly & just fun. I've always wondered what he might have been able to do if he'd been given more serious material. I think he might have made at least a fairly good actor. Most of the stuff he did just seemed to be showcases for his songs. Nothing wrong with that. But I still wonder what might have been.
@larrywt6564 жыл бұрын
The four movies he made in the 50s (including Jailhouse Rock) were excellent. While they all had the music scenes, they also had really strong storylines and excellent acting. It was the movies he made after coming back from the army in 1960 that were just silly formula pieces. That's why he quit making them because he couldn't stand the fluff anymore.
